Sisko Posted February 17, 2017 Share Posted February 17, 2017 Hello, I have used my laptop via ethernet to seemingly successfully set my arris modem/router to bridged mode. Testing my connection speed via the laptop still connected to the modem reveals great ping as well as upload and download speeds. When I connect my R1 to the modem and my laptop to the R1: 1) laptop communicates great with the R1 and has full access to all of its menus 2) I cannot connect to the Internet wired or wirelessly with my laptop or phone, etc. 3) I cannot connect to the menus of my modem even though I can do that when my laptop is plugged directly into the modem (albeit after a modem restart) Not sure how to fix this Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

In some cases of bridge mode or modem mode for example the IP to access it's interface changes to something else so would search for your model and bridge mode to check if that's the case. Ensure they're connected to each other port 1 to port 1 and reboot the R1 from miscellaneous settings. Do you then have internet access? I've also moved this to general support. Crashoverride Posted February 19, 2017 Share Posted February 19, 2017 i have this same problem. when i put my ISP router into transparent bridge mode i lose my internet connection to both my ISP router and the Netduma. i then have to reset my ISP router back into router mode to have any internet connection. any suggestions????/ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Sisko Posted February 20, 2017 Author Share Posted February 20, 2017 I finally got my R1 to work with my Arris TG2472 gateway in Bridged mode! Here's what I did. 1) I unplugged all cables from the gateway ethernet ports 2) I plugged my laptop into the gateway's ethernet port 1 3) I accessed the gateway's menu and - turned off a few firewall functions - turned off wireless functions - turned off LAN DHCP - switch it's NAT settings from "routed with NAT" to "bridged" 4) I unplugged the laptop from the gateway's ethernet port 5) I rebooted the gateway 6) I connected the r1 to the gateway's ethernet port 1 7) I powered up the r1 At this point it didn't work 8) I then unplugged the power from both the r1 and gateway 9) I powered up the r1 10) then I powered up the gateway Then it finally worked! Apparently I never turned things on in quite the right order before to allow the gateway's WAN DHCP to work. Guess I was a minute too late lol I'm not sure that's normal "bridge" mode so if you have any issues call your ISP and have them set it to bridge mode again for you. I could have sworn that I rebooted my modem enough a few days back but I guess not. Now it is simply a joy to access the r1's menu in one second. Trying to get to the menu or even change pages on the Arris's menu takes 30 to 45 seconds! Looking forward to using all of the r1's features! Thank you again. I have read a little about what you mentioned. It sounds like what I did is how others have bridged this particular gateway. I don't know for sure. I would just reset it to factory settings and have your ISP set it to bridge mode, as long as you don't mind possibly having to do it yourself again manually when they tell you they can't do it... I've been wrestling with this gateway and trying to get this far for a few months! I am curious to see if they support doing it in their end. I guess that might be the only way to be sure. Thanks.
