HugoMachine
Hello Everyone, I have purchased NETDUMA after watching a youtube video posted by a Street Fighter V (SFV) played based in the UK and I thought it could help me filter out some unwanted players who had bad ping during SFV play. I basically wanted to play smoother games with as less lag as possible. My current setup is: fiber optics internet modem (provided by my ISP, based in Macau) --> ASUS RT-AC87U router (Wi-Fi disabled) which does a PPPoE connection through my ISP modem --> Netduma --> PC and some other devices at home My internet is 1Gbps down/up and works fine with just the ASUS router alone. Reaches about 900+ Mbps down/up. Whenever I connect the ethernet cable that comes out from one of the 4-ports available in the ASUS router to NETDUMA R1 PoE (Port 1), I only get down/up speeds less than 100 Mbps and I can access the R1 throught the internet interface and play around with the settings. However, if I plug in the same ethernet cable to the other ports in R1 (ports 2-4), I am able to achieve down/up speeds of 900+ Mbps, but unable to access the R1. I guess R1 would automatically become just a splitter (please correct me if I am wrong). I hope to be able to use the NETDUMA features to have a better experience during online games and at the same time do some congestion control because I have many family members who abuse my internet and I am the one who pay all the bills at home hahahaha! Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
e38BimmerFN
Have you placed the IP address of the R1 WAN port (port1) it gets from the Asus router into the Asus routers DMZ? This is recommended if your going to use two routers. Would have better performance if you can place the R1 router after the ISP modem/ONT and use the Asus router as a wired AP instead. It's not recommended to have two routers online as this causes a double NAT condition. http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000024070-quickstart-guide-installing-the-router-accessing-the-interface And check this for settings as well: http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000023979-optimal-settings-guide#Speed
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 2, 2017 Administrators Share Posted February 2, 2017 That doesn't sound right. Have you assigned the R1 a different LAN address to its standard 192.168.88.1 IP?

Have you assigned the R1 a different LAN address to its standard 192.168.88.1 IP? Hello Gents, Thanks for the replies. I didn't set the WAN port 1 to DMZ. I thought that would create security risks, but I am not an expert. Yes, I have assigned a different LAN address for the Netduma R1 and I am accessing its control panel via WAN. My PC is on the ASUS network. I want to place most of the machines that require internet in the R1 and only my PC in the ASUS router. However, all the machines linked to R1 is not getting internet. May I ask again whether DMZ is really necessary? I'm a newbie. So sorry to bother you all.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 3, 2017 Administrators Share Posted February 3, 2017 Setting the R1 WAN IP in the DMZ is fine to do as the R1 has it's own firewall. It is not necessary to do in order to achieve an internet connection however. You can't access the R1 interface from LAN via http://R1, 192.168.88.1 or the one you changed it to? Normally I would say it's PPPoE but the ASUS is taking care of that. I know it's simple but it works most of the time in these cases, rebooting the R1 from miscellaneous settings (after you connect via WAN). Can you connect to the interface through LAN after following this guide? http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000022375-i-unticked-preserve-settings-when-upgrading-can-t-access-my-router-help
