Optimal Settings for MWR?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have their best Optimal settings for playing MWR? (XboxOne preferably)

I have great results with IW and any games previous to that BO3, AW, Ghosts etc.. But for some reason I can not find the best settings for MWR. I am constantly getting beat out by the electric slide lagger across the map or run into the shoot first die first scenario in almost every gun fight. (Plus, when watching back the kill cam, if there is one LOL, I have no hitmarkers on the other player and they in turn just DEMOLISH me in one shot.) I'm sure I can't be the only one running into this issue and Figured to ask my homies what they are trying out!

Thank you for any input friends!

Is MWR running on P2P or are they hosting it on dedis?  That answer will better tailor your responses on things to try.

That is a good question my friend.. LOL I am assuming P2P? (Just on my assumption whomever gets to moon walk in the game, is host. Thus, why they do well and beat people out.) I really just think they have something set up to benefit crap connections.. but hey a round of testing will hopefully prove me wrong!

Not saying I'm "Gods gift to earth on the sticks" but, when you scratch your head 9/10 times you lose a gun fight, you wonder whats going on.. :$

Are you taking a look at the host ID's by any chance?  And are you using the rating of the hosts feature?  This is speculation based on running other CoD games in P2P (BO2, BO1, MW3)

If it were running P2P - then I would treat it just like any other game.  Set radius local, strict mode on, and shrink/increase the radius based on how easy it is to get a game. Make sure and have PING ASSIST to zero to force connection inside the Geo Filter only.  This would tie, hand in hand, with rating the hosts that give you good, consistent game play.  It will take a couple of days to build up a good host player base, then it will progressively get more consistent (at least more consistent for CoD).

Now if they are doing some sort of hybrid P2P then onto a dedi, like IW is doing, then I don't have anything relevant I am afraid as I am a bit out of the loop on the new style of matchmaking.

Things that should remain constant:  Using the Congestion Control to limit the amount of spikes and traffic affecting game play on your end, watching the host ID's to identify if you have a consistently crappy host and the Geo Filter size and location (assuming this is running a true P2P format).

Hope that helps a little bit, but I suspect someone here will have some thoughts for you based on their gameplay.

Thanks Dillinger!

Sadly that is usually how I run my settings.. I tend in the other cods to never go above 1200km radius and always set it to 0ping assist, +Strict mode. I Live in the midwest so it is really easy to find games at any point of the day with that radius.

I think It might just be me needing to play with the CC sliders. But since I have over such a high bandwidth, Its disabled via super turbo mode. I'll go in tonight and flux around with it.. I have a feeling I'm going to have to drop my caps down to maybe <5% and see if that works. I know the system tells us that its not recommended to drop that low... But with 1000mbps up and down does that not seem like the best troubleshooting option for now? (Sorry for the rambling, just brain storming here!)

Thanks!

Have you tested your line with Ping Plotter yet?  Just wondering if it's not the speed, or the "head room" you are reserving with the congestion control.  Other variables like ingress (which is external interference getting in the way) however could come and go, causing intermittent problems.  While you can have a 1ms ping all day, the quality of the line COULD be causing issues in quick, twitch gunfights.

You can play with the sliders, but I doubt it will make a big difference as I assume that you have reached a consistent setting that yields good game play for other titles.

I'd test the line quality AND play with the sliders, but at different intervals.  Do one and then do the other.  See if you can find something that is out of the norm.

I hear ya, and yes I have great outcomes with other titles. (Consistently been above a 2.0k/d player since adopting the duma.) I doubt me playing around does anything either, but I'll give the ping plotter a try and see. I havent ran it in a while, but when I do i usually get Exceptional/Great/Great/No Loss almost everytime.. maybe an entire factory reset on both my ISP and Netduma is needed? it really could be anything lol

Quite possibly I'm just "booty" at the older CODs and maybe I just need to stick with the future.

Hyper Lane is a must for me, but I guess it depends on how your household uses the internet.  We have several devices active, almost all the time, and my wife is constantly streaming, so getting my gaming packets in and out in an orderly fashion was a God send.

Essentially with Hyper Lane. your gaming packets get head of the line privileges going and coming from the house.  So while you are gaming and anyone else in the house is doing anything, the gaming packets get the presidential treatment and get whisked in and out ahead of any other traffic.

Now you said you had a pretty silly-low ping, like 1ms, so even if your packets were delayed, I doubt you would even notice at those speeds...LOL

I would be interested to see a couple of graphs of what a 1ms ping looks like on Ping Plotter to be honest.  I suspect it will look drastically different from all the other graphs that have been put up (outside of Zennon's Flat Earth line - that thing is amazing) and could be used to help further educate.

Then again, you may just be the Apex predator in terms of internet and the CoD online MP coding hasn't caught up with you yet.  :D

Definitely use hyper traffic yes, no need to use advanced as the console service includes those ports.

Sounds good, I will forsure give this a try tonight then! (Passed out lastnight after watching the little one, so lost the chance to configure anything lol) I can hopefully get some screen shots and show you all what we are working with, sharing is caring anyway right and the more knowledge for us all the better. (Especially because everyone will be on Gig at somepoint in the future)

But, I do think Dillinger might be right. I don't believe the MP COD coding is up to the Low Ping/Gigabit internet yet and those with it take hits at times. ( I can't complain obviously at all when I am host. Which you can def tell when you are!) But when your not.... it sometimes is mind boggling. I tested it before adding in the Duma and trust me it was way worse.. I'd get insta melted in some games and not even get a kill cam or anything, truly some bizarre stuff. But then once the Duma was added I could control the outrageous connections and I haven't run into those since.

Thank you for the Help team! I will try some of these out tonight and post what I get!  :)

I would agree with what both you and JD said.I notice the MWR does play different than IW IMO it plays like an older COD,if that makes sense.I don't know it that's good or bad but I do notice a definite difference in how the games run.

And on MWR I still catch the same dedi's that IW and BO3 ran on.But do still catch some P2P games guess it just all depends on how crowded (or how many servers they have turned on) and location whether you catch a dedi or a P2P game.
