Collet005
Hi, I have my netduma connected on port 1 to my Technicolor TG789vac v2 modem. On netduma i use a ppoe session that gives me an ip, instead on my techincolor i can't disabled the internet connection (if i disabled it i will loose the phone line), so i have another internet connection with a different ip. So my question is, If i connect all my devices to the technicolor modem and only my xbox to netduma will i have some benefits? It will work as i have two different and indipendent connections (i have two different ip) or not? i think not, am i right?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 25, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 25, 2016 The IP the PPPoE gives you is likely a local IP. If you only have one modem/pay for 1 internet connection then you only have one connection. You should definitely have all devices connected to the R1 so you can make use of congestion control. Fraser, While your statement is correct most of the time, there are situations where this is not accurate. My home setup, which also used a technicolour (a TG1) and a netduma is provided by default 2 public IP addresses, one an IPv4 and a native IPv6. both at the same time. Collet005 i would only have the phone and the netduma connected to your techicolour and everything else into the netduma. I would check to see if your techicolour has latest firmware and update if required and then put it into bridge mode. This will require you to enter the details on the netdumas WAN setting page. Contact your ISP tech support if you are unaware how to do this. final tip, i had to restore factory defaults on my techicolour and not enter any settings into it except enabling bridge mode, including the basic connection settings for my ISP such are username and password ect, for some reason doing this would make the netduma unable to connect to the internet. and on the netduma the only settings i needed to enter was the PPP user & password on the WAN page. Ive been meaning to do a write up with screenshots for a while, and will get around to doing soon, so check it if you need help
