zProdiigy-
I have 300 down and 25 up. Can anyone recommend if cat5 or cat7 cables would be best to use with netduma?
PharmDawgg
It's overkill but I would go with Cat-
II N3MES1S II
I'm using all cat6 at the moment but will be upgrading to cat7 soon.
PharmDawgg
Honestly unless your getting speeds of 10Gbps, Cat 6 should be be fine
II N3MES1S II
Honestly unless your getting speeds of 10Gbps, Cat 6 should be be fine The cat7 cables are better protected against interference so no matter what speeds you have its a better cable. II N3MES1S II
I am going to be getting these soon https://www.amazon.com/CAT7-Ethernet-Cable-Fosmon-White/dp/B00D3Q1PH0/ref=sr_1_60/162-0992629-7672922?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1479356664&sr=1-60&keywords=ethernet+cable+cat7&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_five_browse-bin%3A7800924011 https://www.amazon.com/Shielded-Ethernet-Networking-Network-Stranded/dp/B011BIWJ9O/ref=sr_1_14/162-0992629-7672922?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1479355659&sr=1-14&keywords=ethernet+cable+cat7&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_five_browse-bin%3A7800924011 I would only buy from Fosom or Ugreen at the moment since they are the only ones selling true S/STP cables
XSXS
Go cat 6 unless the pricing is marginal. Now way you will ever need the speed of cat 7. What is your house wired with cat 5e, 6, or 7?. If cat 5e or 6, it is a waste to go cat 7. Also termination becomes a problem with cat 6 and above. Your whole house could be wired with cat 6 or 7 but if your wall jacks are not terminated properly, there goes all that speed! Cat 6 is a pain to terminate correctly. zProdiigy-
I'm not sure what my house is wired. I've already purchased cat7 from amazon. Say my house is wired cat5 but I use cat7, will that have any negative effect?
