Port Forwarding on MWR

Recommended Posts

Some guys say it works to make one ps4 static IP one dhcp IP and manual forward 3074, 9308, 1935, and 3478-3480 udp and tcp to the static IP. Then allow the upnp to hand out ports ot the dhcp to the wireless ps4.  But technically the ps4 will not request 3075 as some say, at least not for bo3.  For it to work properly you need to be able to assign ports of a higher range externally to translate to the same internal port.  So PS4-1 would be external 3501 to internal 3074  and PS4-1 would be 3502 external to 3074 internal each assigned to their respective static IP would be the best scenario. That being said most SOHO routers have great deal of issues with getting this to work.  The netduma will attempt to actually assign a higher range external port but the NAT never takes place completely in UPnP and you will always show NAT type 2 which is technically open but in game moderate, which the unexplained typically get labeled as a bug for the offending requesting devices.  Read up on manual port forwarding. It will be your savior.  No matter what anyone tells you UPnP is not the best, it's the easiest if/when it works.  Thats why so many people have to reboot or their NAT type changes, it's the way UPnP works.  And who really wants apps inside their safezone LAN to be opening ports at their will.  Sure it 90% works safely but what if you got a random rogue app and it was opening ports for remote users without your knowledge... trojan your anus.
