adel75
I played with R1 since 1 year or more. 1 month ago i unplugged the Netduma after having some network issues and forgot about it. My R1 was perfectly configured but so far beside the geo filtering, i start to think that there is little difference in games with or without it and start to think that it is kind of a placebo effect. I'm not putting down the device but i somehow try to point out the lack of visualisation for each flow that would really show how their specific jitter/latency is made better etc.. it would be nice to have : - a real time visualisation of each queue - what flow (IP pairs ) are using them aka IP adresses not just obscur hashes.. - map IP to friend ID if needed. (bad guys don't need a netduma to get people IP and ddos them..) - granular bandwidth control per queue. right now it is too much of a black box and nothing i can achieve myself with way more visibility with the following tools : - a linux box with 2 NIC. - queuing reconfigured for codel - tc qdisc - iptable and xt_geoip module. right now my box will stay unplugged , i will give it a try when dumaOS v2 is release but i don't feel i need it anymore. and an OS update every 6-8 month is too long and this make the product lose traction too fast. Slipknot31286sic6
Um honestly if u don't play cod. I find the box worthless yes. But that's main reason ppl have it cod. Asus or dlink gaming router. Much better features and same qos no issues but netduma seems to fix issues
jwiggs40
Great marketing , great help in certain ways but def not a game changer for me. I dont know if there is a difference with it on or off.

Geo filter for me has provided a lot of really good game plays that I would have seen a lot less of. That is after doing many many experiments. Geo filter aside, I also learned that throttling the connection was huge in regards to the stability of my connection. Without it on, If I go to www.dslreports.com and my bufferbloat is like a "D" but it throttled correctly with duma I get an "A+" every single time. There are still pings and lag so it doesn't make the experience perfect, as if that is possible with "COD", but it has made it quite a bit better. I also had my settings off and wrong for a majority of the time but recently I fixed them and it seems to have helped tremendously. Not in every game, I am still subject to other 3 bar or less players causing some issues in games but my experience is so much better now. Using the Netduma for me has been a game within a game but I am thankful I purchased it if for no other reason the ability to troubleshoot. I have even noticed some recent trends and when I can expect a bad connection depending on a number of different factors. Still testing those theories out but it seems to have a certain consistency to it. Keep in mind, I am on cable so I might have a naturally more unstable connection than many others so I imagine it is possible that I could have better results with it but that is likely because my connections without it are inferior to others so if that is the case I was already put at a disadvantage. If you did not notice a difference then I would say you probably did not have it setup correctly. Good points, however the router was made for people to be able to easily use it. Take a look at other router interfaces, someone who has never seen one before will have no idea what to do. Making a router that encompasses all those points from the get go would be totally confusing for people and add unnecessary information that doesn't actually help solve a problem. More refined bandwidth control will be introduced. Just because people don't need a duma to get peoples IP and DDoS them doesn't mean we should make it easier for them, especially given locations are shown on a map.
