Comparing Games and Connections

After the addition to BO3 supply drops and recent connection issues I decided to take a break from COD BO3.  I picked up overwatch today and learned something interesting.

The most common and what I found so far to be the best server for BO3 for me is located in Iowa. I am just one state over so the distance is minor. I have to basically keep my settings at below 1000 if I want any chance of getting a smooth game play and even than it is very spotty and not consistent. For reference my in game ping according to the net duma is on average between 35ms to 65ms at at times it can up to 95ms and sometimes even higher than that. Anything above 65ms seems to start showing some really obvious signs of lag.

Today I picked up Overwatch cause I just simply need to take a break from COD, permanently maybe but at least a month or so for my own sanity. Now the server or area of servers that I most commonly connect to is Southern California but the in game ping is almost consistently between 10ms and 20ms and on average below 15ms. I have never had a ping like that in COD BO3. Of course I only had this game for a few hours now but it has played completely flawless so far. Not sure if it is because the servers are not as loaded up as COD but the difference is night and day.

I am on XB1 if that matters.

Would it be reasonable to conclude that what I have suspected for a long time now is true, that BO3 servers are just garbage or is there more to this that?

I remember playing Titanfall 1 (the original) a couple months back before I got the duma just to see if people still played it and noticed the connection on that was flawless to but never really thought much about it since I suspected very few people were playing it, thought that might be why.

It's my opinion that cod lags on purpose after MW2 because it wasn't "fair" for the n00bs who were getting destroyed. Go back and play MW2 and you'll see it's a million times better than your best BO3 game play.

1. Better engine - COD is still using a 1998 modified Quake engine. $65 per game, plus the millions of dollars made on supply drops and dlc and we are still running on a 1998 engine.

2. Better netcode - This ties into the engine being old. You can only do so much to improve it.

3. Better servers

4. Less server load

I definitely don't think the servers for PS are exactly "all they could be" can't speak for XB servers myself as I don't have one but friends that I trust say the servers are better on XB than PS.

They could definitely do some things to improve their titles...the engine, servers, forced match making etc but I think were stuck with the way things are now for the remainder of the lifecycle of all COD's
