me_never_win
So my setup is ISP router> Netduma> linksys wrt54g. So the problem is.... I can't acces the linksys' router interface. IIRC, It was directly connected to the isp router when i configured it. I'm using it as the only access point for all the wireless devices on the house so it would be great if I can go to it's interface to set MAC filter and stuff. Tried restarting everything already. (unplug then plug is what i meant). Thanks!
Kirby9099
You need to find the MAC address of the Linksys router that is an access point mode now. Once you know that, you can go into settings and DHCP lease in the Netduma. Find the mac address and it will show the MAC address and the name. Select reserve place it outside the default DHCP range I believe its 192.168.88.10 to 240. So place it anywhere below 10 (not 1) or above 240( not 255.) then reboot the Linksys. Then go to that IP address such as 192.168.88.x the "x" being the number you assigned to it. And you should be in.
me_never_win
Thanks! I went to the DHCP lease on the Netduma but Linksys' MAC address isn't there on the list. We can connect to the internet just fine through it, but I can't access the interface.
major masingil
Thanks! I went to the DHCP lease on the Netduma but Linksys' MAC address isn't there on the list. We can connect to the internet just fine through it, but I can't access the interface. You may have misidentified the IP of your linksys in the device manager. If it's connected to the R1 you should be able to see its MAC address in the page Kirby referenced. I am using a similar set up to yours and all I have to do is type in the 192.168.88.1.XXX IP into a web browser and I can access my AP router...it's a netgear r6300 so it's method of access may be different than yours. My AP router is not outside the default DHCP range either. Are you sure you know the netduma IP of your AP router? Do you have any "nameless devices" in your device manager that you're unsure of? Once you figure it out make sure you reserve that IP in the DHCP Lease page of the R1 so it doesn't get changed in the future. Also make sure you turn off the DHCP on your linksys so you don't have both your R1 and your linksys trying to dish out IP addresses to your network. I know this message probably wasn't much help, but I can tell you for sure what you're trying to do works. One last thing...you could look on the bottom of your linksys and see if the MAC address is listed there, or pull your linksys out of the network and plug a laptop directly into it and get the MAC and/or make any changes you want then plug it back in to your R1 network. Kirby9099
Yes its always best to know a little bit about Networking before messing with a setup like this. I set my Nighthawk AP to 192.168.1.2, changed my netduma to 192.168.1.1. And yes most Linksys has a serial stick on the bottom that states MAC ADDRESS will look like this B4:75:0E:5B:8C:40:DA etc.
me_never_win
Thanks guys! I will probably wait for everyone on the house to sleep then unplug and configure the linksys. Maybe the problem is... it was plugged into my isp hub when i configured it. Because my isp hubs ip is 192.168.1.1 then i made 192.168.1.101 on the linksys. I got it to work now guys! What I did was.. 1) factory reset the linksys then connect it directly to my laptop. 2) changed linksys' internet connection type to "bridge only mode" 3) Changed the linksys' local ip to 192.168.88.99 (Netdumas range is 100 to 250) 4) Disabled DHCP on the linksys then save. 5) Plug the linksys back to netduma then.... BOOOOM! Now I can access the linksys' interface. And now it shows on the Netdumas DHCP lease and ticked reserve. I just put a random number on the "host number".. does it matter. Thank you very much from the bottom of my broken heart!!!
