Zen i managed to get PPPoE working and directly connected it uup to the pc but the speed is lower about 43mb now. i found what is causing the loss of internet the hg612 is not handing out the dns servers how do i fix that?

Strange it should auto use BT's you could use googles or opendns or many other dns services.

Type it in to the DNS section.

Did that i managed to sort it out now it finds it's own dns servers but speed issues still not resolved the hh5 type a feels faster then the hg612 in speed terms

it sounds like DLM has put the brakes on. can you check ur ip profile?

Yeah checked ip profile dropped to 74mb instead of 77.43 and ping as raised to 11ms instead of 6ms :( how long for it to return to normal ive asked BT to do a line reset yet its still the same.

DLM interleaving depth goes up in 8ms depths per jump which would make 14ms from you normal 6ms if you had interleaving depth 1.

Put the hh5 back on and forget about the modem.

It can take a few days as mine did not long ago, i am now on 1 on both up and down now.

Maybe the rise in ping is due to some other factor. DLM can take a while, first there has to be about 9 days without disconnections then it may start making positive changes in the days to weeks. you may find after waiting that your profile becomes stuck and there are no positive changes. then a profile reset is needed, which openreach will probably be reluctant to do as your speed is with in your band. im with plusnet and they have a good article here on DLM http://community.plus.net/t5/Library/FTTC-DLM-What-it-is-How-it-works/ba-p/1322799

also they say disabling QOS on hg612 you will get an increase in upload througput. i tried it and it worked.

edit:

also to add some differences

The bt HH5 type A uses Lantiq chipset, unlike the HH5 type B and HG612 that uses the broadcom chipset at a guess your problem is either caused by this or through many disconnections while setting up.

9 days as predicted, I think it should be shorter but hey BT and there lovely DLM system

So true but in the 5 days i did do a swap but manage to change it back to normal my ip profile for my line is now 77.35mb Zen wish it was quicker at giving your speeds back it's quick at reducing them but longer to give back

oh i thought you was using HG612 > Netduma,

whats your setup now?

hh5>netduma now as the hg612 doesn't give me the full speeds for download. The ports on the hg612 are slower compared to the hh5 i tend to find.

It was the PPPoE thing we spoke about a while back , not the ports nfx

Oh i may wait till netduma team fix that until now i'll stick with the hh5 as it's working good for me. :)

i have made a tutorial with the HG612 you will get max throughput, and also you can use upnp or portforward with duma instead of dmz, amazing results. check my sig
