Issue while trying to Livestream

So I am not sure if this is an issue with the NetDuma or my Elgato, but I am wondering what settings some of you guys use for livestreaming through the netduma. I capture through my iMac which has standard features I will list below,

Processor; 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory; 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics; NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512 MB (not too worried I do not use my mac for gaming)

That being listed I know this is not a beast computer to do rendering or anything on, but with 8 GB RAM it should have no problem rendering at 1080p @ 60 fps. My internet is shotty, but decent daily. My download speeds are 299.1 mbit and 23.79 mbit upload which is also just fine. I guess what I am trying to get at is how should I set mt netduma for optimal usage while livestreaming. I have a feeling that when I am changing my congestion it is slowing my computer. And yes i do prioritize, about 50 for my PS4 and 40 for my iMac with the rest being shared. I look forward to reading your responses!

Hey Chris,

Put your congestion control to 100% and reset device prioritisation and don't user hyper-traffic. Does this resolve your issue?

The main problem I see is you are trying to stream at 1080p @ 60fps which is way beyond what most streaming sites allow and/or can deal with.

I would lower the resolution to 720p @ 30fps (2.5MB upload), or if you want 60fps, 960x540p (2.5MB upload).

Also, if you are using the Elgato HD 60 (USB), I recommend investing in the internal capture card version -- Elgato HD60 Pro -- Because then you can game in real time and have both the audio and video in sync without having to have any delays due to the insufficient bandwidth of USB 2.0.

Fraser thanks for the reply! I tried that and I am still having issues while trying to livestream. I am waiting for Elgato technicians to get back to me, because I feel it is not the router.

JConnor, I should have added that to my first post. I have tried all bit rates and all fps and it still cannot render. Issue is I have an iMac and the support through Elgato for mac users is horrible.

Jconnor hit this right on the spot.  I had a USB Elgato and that was good for 720p 30 on a i7 16gigs of ram, 2000 bit rate (although it was pushing it).  I grabbed in internal Elgato HD60 Pro which uses less CPU and that let me stream at 720p 60 with ease, night and day difference since its 64bit hardware unlike the USB version.  1080p is to much for your rig (and even mines at times lol) and not to mention if you're not partnered with Twitch (assuming its Twitch) then viewers will see a black hole of buffering.  To be honest what works the best for me is what Jconnor mentioned, 960x540p 60 but at 2000 bit rate and bumping up OBS to Fast for CPU and Bicubicle for video.  Oh ya, definitely turn off Hyper Traffic or you'll drop frames.  Most peeps watch on a small screen like smartphones and tablets, 1080p just taxes your computer.  Try 960x540p it looks great and you'll get more viewers since no irritating buffer.  =)

Oh btw, my first stream machine was a Macbook Pro Retina 16gigs  i7 2.7ghz with the Elgato USB model.  Of course I naturally wanted a 1080p stream but found out what 1080p really needs so I upgraded my desktop gaming rig with the internal Elgato for 60fps.  Laptops are just "ok" for streaming....

Let me add my Macbook Pro basically has the same guts as your iMac but with 1gig video

The other great thing about the Elgato HD 60 Pro internal capture card is you can stream anything that outputs via a HDMI signal.

So, you can stream older XB360, PS3 and WiiU titles, too... As well as hook up another PC via HDMI cable and have a two computer stream setup like a lot of streamers use. They do this in order to dedicate the streaming CPU overhead (transcoding) to one PC, and strictly game processing & rendering to the other. This is where having an equally powerful gaming laptop, or desktop comes in handy...
