  1. Thank you Fraser! Hopefully we get it for the holidays... would be a great gift for the community haha. Would love to see the automatic priority in action. Definitely intrigued how it works on the back end if that eventually can be shared. I'll stay tuned then. Let me know if there's even a slight chance to beta test this new feature. I'd love to see if it fixes my experience in Valorant / Marvel Rivals.
  2. Thanks Fraser. I hope this update is coming within the month, or at least a big announcement on more details and that it is coming very soon. I believe the users would love the transparency. Providing us with a way to fine tune / prioritize what ports or packets we're seeing would be awesome. Or if it's the OS using some AI or deep machine learning on constant gaming packets and we could prioritize it would be great. Maybe it recognizes the pattern or traffic and suggests "hey would you like to prioritize this activity or add to an existing one?" I'd love to keep learning what ports a game uses, then the R3 finding said ports and I could then cross reference it at least and confirm to add it to "Valorant" activity, or "gaming", etc. I did this fine tuning with the Asus router on Merlin/FlexQoS. Even without going deep into it, it still had the prioritization features - some just fine tune further.
  3. Thank you! When this is received and passed over to the team, how long does it typically take (outside of holidays) to be added to the DPI self-learning engine to where users would see this reflected in SmartBoost/DumaOS? Is it months? Weeks? I know there won't be a set date for every case. I'm asking if it's looked at frequently enough or does it lag behind for months and months. Does someone scrub through new wireshark uploads weekly, analyze it then sync it? Just curious how fast this type of support is, assuming we've provided what Netduma needs (the files and anything else). I'm also looking to see if I can utilize wireshark/other programs to only look at packets related to a program so it doesn't have any other packets in the file - maybe this would help identify it faster on your end.
  4. Came across this topic as I was also looking for some of the older "fine tune" features my XR500 had on the older Duma OS version. I really hope these fine tune features are brought back so we have a little more control. My XR500 ran really well with traffic prioritization on, QoS off, as I had high down/up speeds so QoS for my case wasn't necessarily needed, but I wanted to keep Gaming at the front so other activities didn't induce any lag.
  5. I guess I'm hopeful for what the team can announce for what they are currently working on/trying to improve, as I don't know if I can commit to the R3 if I only have a month to test and no notes of what the team is exactly working on. If they aren't fixing these more than seen issues by the community (yes I know it's a support forum, issues are still there), then I may have to revisit Netduma products in the future. I reallllly liked the Duma OS on the XR500 so I am hopeful. I posted my wireshark data on the other pinned topic for joining a game/couple quick rounds, then the second upload was at the last 10 seconds of a game, to menu, to requeuing and doing 1 round. Posted in 'Adding New Games and Applications to DumaOS' Please see if the team can let us know what is at the forefront of fixing/improving so we at least know what is prioritized. I understand there's no exact date, but it'd be nice to know that the next big patch is hoping to improve XYZ and this is how we're doing it.
  6. Hi, Valorant seems to be a hit or miss being detected in its existing Activity under Gaming (or Valorant activity itself). Application name: VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe (Riot games Launcher -> Launching the primary Valorant exe) Device type used for capture: Win 11 on PC desktop, hardwires, closed other apps. Any other comments: Not using xbox gamepass. DumaOS R3 latest beta firmware since October '24, R3 is brand new. PC was labeled as PC device, had issues. Relabeled as game console, same issues. I noticed when it does detect the first game of the day, once I go back to the main menu and requeue, the Valorant/Gaming Activity stays offline. Relaunching doesn't bring it back as active for smartboost. Riotgames/Valorant does have a webpage on what ports they use. Maybe this will be a good resource on top of the files. I really want valorant to always be detected when myself and/or wife are playing on separate PCs. Valorant menu to matchmaking to a few rounds in game.pcapng valorant end of swiftplay to menu and back to a swift play 2 rounds in.pcapng
  7. Maybe. Good thought. I primarily use Steam, Battlenet, and play Valorant lol. Looking up Valorant in the PC Xbox app is "Play with game pass". I do not and don't plan on purchasing game pass as I haven't had a need for it. I prefer to have a game be detected as intended, assuming it has identifiable packets/ports etc, which Riot Games provides on their website. Something seems to stop the detected Activity after a Swiftplay match (or marvel Rivals quick play), where sitting in the menu turns the Activity off, and re-queuing doesn't re-trigger the Activity to be online. PC runs smooth, internet stays full connected as far as I'm aware, no hiccups anywhere else. I noticed when launching most games, the intended Activity stays off until I join a match. Going back to menu seems to mess with it (whether it's Duma OS or Windows messing with something).
  8. I understand around this time people are busy with holidays. I'm hoping to figure everything out in the return window or have a clear path forward on this being fixed timely. So a solo swiftplay match in Valorant had no rubber banding and was detected as "Gaming" all game. I noticed being in the game menu puts "Gaming" offline. I re-queued for another match (same session), and "Gaming" stayed offline. As far as I'm aware, Marvel Rivals did this. It would detect, then after a while or requeuing, "gaming" goes offline. I'd like to focus prioritizing activities over devices as sometimes we use our devices for other activities, and we don't want that taking any priority if another is gaming. Netduma Lew had a pinned topic "Adding New Games and Applications to DumaOS". Is this something I can still do, let's say for the menu detection and re-queing a second match? Or what is needed for this to be updated? If I do this, would it help it be added/corrected a bit faster (of course outside of the holidays)? I'm wondering how fast the support is to assure games are being detected. Are us R2/R3 customers ever going to be able to test packets live in game via the router/OS, and be able to apply it ourselves? Maybe it detects a pattern or offers what ports it detected via the game session, and we can confirm to add/not add? Or maybe there's a way to add the ports manually to the gaming rule (or game specific rule like 'Valorant'), like routing it to say use ports 12345-65000 UDP/TCP under 'Valorant'? Riot Games/Valorant even has a post of what ports they use, so we could always use those resources to then manually go in to add to the 'Valorant' rule, for example. I know I can port forward, but I want to prioritize those via DumaOS traffic prioritization.
  9. Edit: Found some more posts on congestion control and edited my download/upload speed based on speedtest.net, and not the in router speed test. Re-ran ping optimizer, turned off speed test bypass as recommended by others. Turned congestion control back to always on and re-ran waveform bufferbloat, received an A. Saw others had A+. Upload was 0 ms latency, needed to get download close to 0 ms. I turned down the download percentage to 75% and re-ran waveform bufferbloat and now received an A+. I will test for rubber banding in games in the day. I still would love to know why gaming sessions don't keep the "Gaming" priority online. Thank you!
  10. First day testing the R3 on latest beta firmware. I want to love it, I see potential but need help to know if I'm simply missing something. I came from using an XR500 for a long time, and shorter an Asus router (2 weeks ago). Two games tested were Valorant and Marvel Rivals. When it's running good, it's smoooooth, good ping (lowest ping I've seen on the same server), etc. Then at times I will get rubber banding, and at one point I lagged out for 15 seconds on my PC only, not my wives PC in the same match. My network drivers are up to date. This happened on my prior Asus AX11000 Pro until I fixed the priority with Gaming & Others as top priority in FlexQoS as not all game ports are added to the gaming database. No rubber banding since on that router, same drivers, etc. I can also classify those "other" ports under "gaming" so it stays prioritized. On the R3 I have SmartBoost for Gaming as top priority, then unknown (some games seem to fall under unknown or some ports, I notice the Unknown usage go up when I am in games), work from home, discord, file sharing, then streaming. When I launch Valorant, it doesn't detect activity online under Gaming (or the Valorant category which rolls up to gaming). When I get in a deathmatch, it stays on for most of the deathmatch. If I queue a Swiftplay match, the Gaming/Valorant category shows Offline, which to me means it's not detecting the packets/ports anymore to prioritize. I get no rubberbanding in deathmatch or when it shows the Gaming category online. Why does it turn off in swiftplay specifically? Are there other packets not falling under the Gaming category? This happens for Marvel Rivals too. Halfway in a quick play match Gaming shows online, but eventually goes "offline". Even after requeuing a second quick play match, Gaming stays offline. This happens if I'm solo queuing or with my wife on separate PCs. Categories like Discord stay online 100% of the time when being used or open on Windows. Why is the Gaming category going online then offline after a short time while playing the same game? I want to iron this out to further test that the router is capable of handling the network accordingly. -I've ran the speed test which is still consistent with many other tests, which is ~35-40Mbps up, ~900-1000Mbps down. -Ping optimizer ran in Expert mode/Full Test. Congestion control was auto set to download/upload of 99% and Always on. I set it to Auto after having some issues, and have the same issues give or take. Speed test bypass is on by default. -PCs were set as "Computer" then later I switched to "Game console" - issues persist. -I've rebooted. -I also don't see an option for QoS like I had on the XR500, so not sure if QoS is on or off elsewhere? -UPnP on by default This router will not work for me if I'm gaming and games aren't being detected to be prioritized, and if the Gaming category keeps going online/offline then staying offline while I'm in the same gaming session. I need Gaming to stay at the forefront otherwise I experience lag. How can I be sure that Gaming stays detected and stays online during a gaming session? What info can I provide to have this checked? Is there any way to check this live as I'm gaming? Please let me know. I have a lot of availability as I am now on PTO, so if anyone can help, that would be much appreciated.
  11. Hi, first big post here. Was hoping to give my journey to the R3. Had some questions about the R3 / Duma OS 4 and how it stands up to an older XR500 and an Asus AX11000 Pro for gaming and management of those gaming packets, hard wired. Please know I don't know finer details that others may know. I'm happy to continue learning whether it's here or more google searches. I am here because I have unanswered questions or have struggled to get down to the nitty gritty of what I'm looking for. Prior: -XR500/DumaOS for prioritized gaming traffic via ethernet cable for both myself and my wife, no others using the internet -1gig up/down fiber speeds (consistent) -Moved and now on cable 1gig down, 40Mbps up (consistent) -No use for QoS (my bandwidth was never constrained), traffic prioritization kept gaming at the front -Primarily used gaming traffic prioritization for smooth gaming. Duma OS recognized this in the UI -Didn't use anti buffer bloat or geo fence, congestion control, etc, as most games I play have built in server selection (of course I select the nearest servers with low ping <50) -Netflix/streaming services can run on the smart TV (wifi) while playing a PC game with no felt interruptions -Have always had two Google Nest wifi cameras, smart devices, work laptops, etc on the network -Router kept every old IP address/device on the network tree until I delete them. Hated this clutter -Unknown if I could have utilized more features to further improve anything. I tried QoS but nothing felt different Current: -Asus AX11000 Pro from black Friday -Like the hardware (not sure if it matters in my use case), like the Wifi 6 for some devices / work laptops -Utilizing latest Asus Merlin firmware and FlexQoS 1.4.4 as this seems like the closest I can get to prioritizing or managing traffic, but it seems more QoS focused vs the traffic prioritization features that Duma OS offers (I could be wrong) -Using FlexQoS fq_codel mode. Order priority is Gaming - Other - Work from Home - Web Surfing - Video & Audio Streaming - File Transferring - Learn from Home. Note for FlexQoS: I am using their gaming rule for our local IP addresses. At first, I had 'Other' as last in priority, but Valorant and other games felt off, Valorant had rubber banding (I'd get shifted 4 feet back every minute or two which I never experienced before). Enemies seemed to not die or I'd be dead well before I had a chance. I later learned that some games fall into the 'Other' category (found like 1 forum post where someone pointed this out), so moving 'Other' right after gaming equated to literally not a single rubber band or lag spike and enemies were dropping like flies again, bullets connecting flawlessly as far as I could tell/feel. I'm also able to see the ports and Rate/Total Data go into categories as I launch games, so here I can tweak/validate if something falls into a weird category. -I don't necessarily understand if there is SQM built in or if it's strictly QoS based with a touch of SQM, or SQM works differently here with QoS. I see Cake QOS has Cake SQM, but this QoS was not recommended for gaming or for higher internet speeds. This router feels like it's a beast/has potential but feels more like you have to tinker with it with what's available, which is the QoS/FlexQoS. It doesn't seem like it has what DumaOS has in terms of SmartBoost, Geo Filter (may or may not use, games I play already have built in server selection), congestion control, antibuffer bloat, traffic prioritization for gaming packets and more. Of course both have the option for QoS. -No need for the other features this router offers such as Mesh -After tweaking FlexQoS last night, Valorant felt VERY good... I'd say around equal to the XR500 and I suddenly was getting kills.. almost easier than before? Like it felt like everything connected instantly at 22-25 ping. I can't say any more or less at the moment. I don't know how to test this specifically as it's only recent and just a feeling. I wonder if the router with more RAM/processing speed helps keep up more, or can manage both gaming PCs with prioritization very well in comparison to a router with less ram/CPU power Future: -Netduma R3 is coming tomorrow -Would love to put the latest beta firmware in which hopefully improves disconnection issues and hope to avoid most issues I saw folks posting about in Dec 2023-early 2024. -I want to set up the R3 to the best of my ability for gaming for us both and compare it to the AX11000 pro -Would love to use features that give us the best hard wired gaming experience for less lag and less latency, no other home devices interrupting a game, etc. Would love to have both my wife and I gaming at the same time with the router managing both gaming sessions with priority over all other devices on the network -I want to feel fluidity in everything from movement to firing/bullets connecting, not delayed, not out of sync, etc, like I have felt before in the same games I've been playing or have felt prior to my XR500 -Range should be OK for the smaller home/area, not many devices are far from router location anyway -Concerns are the firmware issues folks are having in the recent months or issues that still are buggy since release -I'm wondering if the OS is so efficient that it can handle what I am looking for on lower RAM/cpu speeds I understand some features of DumaOS won't be utilized to give the best gaming connection, and that's OK with me. I simply want which will offer us the best gaming experience whether I'm using 1 of the routers features or have to set multiple features up - I'm all for it. I also want to know which one will detect games/gaming packets better so I don't have to tinker as much, like FlexQoS has some limitation to how many manual IPtable rules I can add in to tweak if some games aren't going into correct categories. I'd rather have one router/OS detect most packets correctly (I like some simplicity) or be able to submit to the developers to add in games (like if Valorant isn't on their list, can this be added and how long does it take?). I've done a handful of searches on XR500 -> R3, Asus compared to R3 but would like to know more and refresh the topic as we come up to 2025. Questions that are under the assumption of a consistent ISP connection and having newer PC hardware: 1. Has anyone experienced both the AX11000 Pro (or similar) and R3 on their latest firmware (or most stable)? Thoughts after maximizing each of their potential for hard wired gaming? Do you find any additional features useful for gaming between the two? Has any feature really stood out over another that has immensely improved their connection? 2. I don't know crazy details, but I'm wondering what does Duma OS 4 have in terms of how they prioritize traffic over the Asus/FlexQoS? Does DumaOS have some secret sauce that they know is an improvement over other brands sauce like QoS/FlexQos, etc? Can a developer talk more about this or send a link I can read into more? I'm intrigued by general QoS vs the additional Duma OS features to further improve a lag free/low latency experience. 3. If I only want gaming traffic prioritized with fast internet, I likely don't need QoS, right? I don't care if Netflix fights with a smart device or a quick steam download that can wait the <10 minutes it takes due to fast download speeds - they have all worked equally for me on the XR500, but I wonder if QoS may further improve something I don't see? Again - just want gaming in the front line for 0 lag, 0 hiccups, etc. Unless I see QoS will improve Netflix speeds fighting with a smart device? 4. Can DumaOS/developers let us add games into their list that may not be detected yet to prioritize packets? How fast is the turnaround on this? I saw a forum post where we could maybe add games if we send in some data. 5. Do you think there'll be any hardware limitations for my needs? Not sure if the lower RAM on the R3 would ever hurt our PC gaming, or cause lag elsewhere. We don't plan to add hundreds of devices. If we do, we'd definitely get a router with more power strictly for that. 6. Are there suggested tests to run somewhere somehow for each router, and compare ping/latency/consistency in gaming packets? I'd like to set up both routers to achieve good performance, then compare. Hoping to learn more as I test both routers after tomorrow. I want to figure this out before any return windows close. My hopes are in favor of the R3/Duma OS 4, as much as I think the Asus router is a beast of its own. Thank you!
  12. Hi. may I have access to the beta as well? Would love to see the update! Thank you
