ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3
IrishNomad replied to Netduma Lew's topic in News & Announcements
When an 8 port 2.5Gb switch can be bought for less than $100, it makes me wonder. -
ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3
IrishNomad replied to Netduma Lew's topic in News & Announcements
That is a viable solution but it would just be nice for an all in one solution. Maybe on the R4! -

Oh I'm sure you're correct. It would just be nice to have a future proofed device personally. -

It's not absurd or unnecessary for future proofing and more importantly, LAN traffic such as a NAS or media server. -
ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3

This is one device I seriously considered because of it's price/performance ratio. I think a direct comparison of the ping and gaming performance between that and the R3 would be very interesting. -
ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3
IrishNomad replied to Netduma Lew's topic in News & Announcements
Well this would only be done by users that own both and I don't see a reason to include other routers except these since they're well known for being the top QoS routers. I'll wait till the R3 ships and then open a new thread to see if anyone would be up for it! -
ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3

I would love to see a head to head review of the new R3 vs an equally powerful OpenWRT powered router with Cake QoS. Compare all features but focus on lag and ping reduction. -
ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3
IrishNomad replied to Netduma Lew's topic in News & Announcements
No, I've never used that feature as that would still require manual work to name everything to begin with. With so many names being Null or something else totally unidentifiable, figuring out what's what would take hours. If I'd started a list from scratch when first connecting everything I can see that being a great idea but since I switched to an external AP long after the fact, that's not something I want to take hours to do. -

That's way too much work that really shouldn't be required and I agree, managing from the AP is the only way to get accurate info about devices now it seems. Not being named properly or being able to tell offline or online, makes most of the DumaOS useless. Most people want to plug and play, not plug and config for hours on end. That's time away from gaming lol. I enjoy tweaking on devices that are made for that but a device made for simplicity, I just want it to work. In all fairness I guess I'm asking a little much by wanting to run my own AP but a guy can wish for the best of both worlds. Maybe an R4 Pro with 2.5G ports and AP support will be in the future 😁 -
ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3

I really don't want to make over 35 devices lol and there's still the issue of incorrectly showing online and offline. -

IrishNomad replied to Netduma Lew's topic in News & Announcements
Hmm do your devices correctly show online or offline? That's another issue I have in addition to most being named Null. I use a TP-Link HD660 and on the AP GUI, it correctly names my 35+ devices. I had none of these issues when using the XR WiFi. -

I'm curious how your R2 handles using access points. Technically mine work with my XR but doesn't recognize devices correctly at all. Does your R2 identity them correctly? -
ReadyShare USB drive not found
IrishNomad replied to IrishNomad's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
So basically, this drive is not fully compatible with the XR. -
UniFi bridge AP not connected
IrishNomad replied to IrishNomad's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
The switch is a managed one but the only thing I changed was putting it on the same subnet as my LAN. Most of the unifi folks always said either the radio or port is bad on the unit. But I only get the error when plugged into the XR, not the switch. -
ReadyShare USB drive not found
IrishNomad replied to IrishNomad's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
No, I'm on PC. And according to the manual, it can be other file systems besides NTFS. I'm just not sure why the XR only partially recognizes the drive. -
ReadyShare USB drive not found
IrishNomad replied to IrishNomad's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
I tried adding it to Approved Devices and still nothing. The PNY drive I tested was plug and play. -
ReadyShare USB drive not found
IrishNomad replied to IrishNomad's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
This is what I'm seeing with the WD drive connected. I've tried both USB ports as well and same results. -
ReadyShare USB drive not found
IrishNomad replied to IrishNomad's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
That does make sense but the WD drive has it's own external power supply and is visible on the above mentioned DumaOS page. -
UniFi bridge AP not connected
IrishNomad replied to IrishNomad's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
Yes I am using the injector. I'm not seeing it in the Device Manager but I can see the port is active. I did try another Uni-switch-router connection and same results as a direct connection. From a few threads I've found, there have been other Netgear owners with issues as well. Not sure if it's a Netgear thing or not. -
I have a WD 4TB external drive that can be seen under USB Settings>Approved devices, but not under ReadyShare storage. I also have a small PNY drive connected to the 2nd USB port and it is visible under both and on my PC.

UniFi bridge AP not connected
IrishNomad replied to IrishNomad's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
That's correct. They come with an included PoE injector. -
I have a NanoStation M5 that will not connect to my XR. I've connected the AP and Station sides of the bridge to another 8 port Netgear switch and they both say LAN0 is connected. Once I move the AP side to the XR, I get LAN0 unplugged. I'm using the same cables as I was with the 8 port switch. Any ideas?

NEW XR500 BETA FIRMWARE: 3.3.535
IrishNomad replied to Netduma Lew's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
Thank you Fraser, I appreciate it 👍 -
NEW XR500 BETA FIRMWARE: 3.3.535
IrishNomad replied to Netduma Lew's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
That is correct, they still show on Device Manager, although constantly switching between online and offline. And most are not identifying correctly as when connected directly to the XR's wireless and show as Null. In order to see what devices I need to adjust QoS settings for, I have to access my AP's GUI, find the device and it's IP address, and then go back to the XR and search for that IP. -

The user manual says 50-70 clients per band but I thought I remembered it being much lower, and had issues once mine went over 25. It would be great if this fixed worked but my AP is WiFi 6 and I'm not sure I want to give up that benefit. I guess I'd have to choose either WiFi 6 or working device manager?
