    Regulations that affect advertising
    Advertising to consumers
The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations mean you cannot mislead or harass consumers by, for example:

    including false or deceptive messages
    leaving out important information
    using aggressive sales techniques
Read ‘The consumer protection from unfair trading regulations’ for the rules on advertising legally.

    Advertising to businesses
Advertising to businesses is covered by the Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations. As well as being accurate and honest, you must not make misleading comparisons with competitors, that includes:

using a competitor’s logo or trademark, or something very similar
comparing your product with a competitor’s product that’s not the same
Download ‘The Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008’ for more detail about the regulations that cover advertising to businesses.

People they promised an update for the R1 almost 2 years ago. We stayed with them pumped up the company and got screwed. If really they are removing old post then, There you have it. We were used as pawns for the the bigger fish (netgear)

Before I start, I will not comment after I write this. Its a simple post on my feelings that was long over due.

So as an OG to R1. I wanted to take some time to see what develop before making any comments to the R1 update/non update.

Ive been with netduma since the original launch and been very content with the product and technical suoport. I watched over time users become moderators, the making of brilliant developers, Tester and the tech support is superb.

Now.. I totally understand the business part of it to bring a product concept to manufacturing and to be know, used and loved by the masses.

Making money and keeping people employed is YUGE IMO

But... something is missing or lacking and (IN MY OPINION) this release push back to R1 owners is not right.- SORRY

Ive seen YOUTUBE commentators, pro-gamers who can move to buy (Because they have the money) or even be supported for FREE a new Netgear Router. - Brilliant.

But what about the 3 years that we've been promise and waited for a new software for the R1.

Now... I would of gladly paid for this update if this meant to support the NETDUMA ARMY, company and FAMILY.

I felt like I was part of the team, so when I heard that "it was a mistake on your part for not designing backward compatibility" I need to call you on it, because once again, i consider you people very intelligent or maybe you were more interested in the netgear that you overlook the R1 AND LISTEN TO THIS... THE USERS. - Possible.

Anyways.. I will continue to wait for the update, and maybe in the near future get to enjoy the new operating system for my R1.

I gave reason, look nd read my posts or are you just one of those zzzz guys who chat BS, see the whole 'don't know how to properly configure your home networ' LMFAO this arguement is void considering you can see it meant to be working but does dumaOS config for lag comp for other players, does it account for bad 10hz servers, does it account for not being able to use the geo filter when a game auto keeps connecting you to USA? no it dont so the product is trash as its sold on the basis of 'domintate lag' which it dont 90% of the time/

as I keep saying if the product was soooo good why aint it being live streamed and shown off its capabilities, coz in fact it cant. As you see other companys show off their products on videos or live streams.

Hell did you even look at the clips I provided? one had me playing a whole match with no graphic assets loaded, this was due to the geo filter being on, same went for opening my boxes on COD: BLOPS3 - once i took the filter off everything loaded in and I could open the boxes I got for the games I played.

Also why do you have to DL third party software (pingplotter) to see if the XR500 is even working? this should be built into the software or something like it and not have to DL it to see if its all working. Do you see other companys doing this?

If the DumaOS actually helped detect the best settings for you or advised you on the best ones for each game you played it would be good but after coming from the R1 to the XR500 I see no real advantage to justifie the £250 price tag or anyone to upgrade, yeah the OS is cleaner and made simple but it dont change the same issues the R1 had.

It really is clear as to why this team haven't updated the R1 as if they did there is no real reason to buy the XR500 at all.

This company is so bothered at ripping off its user base it has gone to givening the XR500 to youtubers - LINK

Which is just a joke as the person in the video is flat out laying about how the thing works, as they just use buzz words to make the XR500 look like its worth the price tag.

This is why the R1 update hasnt come out as if it did no one would be buying the XR500 (which no one is), the FACT they have forced promoted it just shows how bad of a company they are.

On the geo filter it is solely dependant on the game being played, no game sticks within the fliter the user sets.  As most games dont have enough of a player base in the EU/UK for it to be useful.

If you want results, you need to demand it (you know who you are, original R1 owners). If your on YouTube or social media, you need to voice your concerns and frustration. I’ve waited long enough and hate to be pushed to the side just because you decided to release it on a newer hardware. You should of took care of your loyal customers. Now I’m not apologizing I’m very disappointed in the lack of transparency.

Its now 77 days. WE DONT TRUST YOU GUYS ANYMORE..... THE WORD IS OUT THERE ....on YouTube and on social media

Hi Duma Army,   We need to announce that the free upgrade of our new software, DumaOS, for the Netduma R1 will need to be briefly delayed due to unexpected requirement from our Legal Team. Our lawyers have advised that DumaOS on the R1 must be backwards compatible.   In other words, if you install DumaOS onto the R1 you should always have the option to reinstall the older R1 firmware if you prefer to go back. We had not designed the DumaOS integration with the R1 to allow for this as DumaOS is superior. But based on legal advice we now must redo the integration to allow for this. It should take, at absolute most, a few more weeks. Nothing more as we have everything else working.   We realise you have been waiting patiently for this upgrade and this last-minute delay is frustrating. Our entire development team is working flat out to get this last bit fixed as soon as possible as we really want you all on DumaOS.   For what it's worth, we're as frustrated as you are as we can't wait to start making lots of new R-Apps (features) for you all.    We will get this last piece done as soon as possible and then it will be full steam ahead in delivering an explosion of new DumaOS features for you all.   Thank you for your continued support.   The ND Team

Sir you are wrong to say "people need to relax because they received what they paid for when it came to the Netduma R1 Gaming Router."
They have been advertising the R1 router that includes a free DumaOS update for quite some time .If you included the Free item as part of your advertising of said product, you must deliver. Its that simple. Here is a perfect example. Video cards come with free games every once in a while. Would they be able to get away with not giving you the "free game" as promised ?  I don't think so.

Why this is overlooked by people who post otherwise baffles me.

Let be accurate, The most recent announcement is another misleading part to the history of the Netduma R1. Its deceiving the way this company back tracks on these things , multiple times I might add and  its been happening for quite some time.

I don't believe the backwards compatibility aspect of the statement at this point. I have had firmware updates in the past from other devices that couldn't revert back to the previous firmware. All they did was state up front that the upgrade is not reversible. So this IMO is BS.

No offense, but sticking up for a company with the reasons you mentioned makes me wonder if your have hit your head on something recently. I hope you feel better.

I know one thing, that I will never buy a Netduma linked product ever again. It is not just about the delays guys, it's about transparency, communication and therefore respect! If you can't the NetdumaOS to work probably with the R1 then that sucks but that's life, but complete radio silence and no support for the NetdumaR1 at all, no bug fixes and or any other fix for that matter is a huge slap in the face. This company has their priorities all wrong and I can't understand how a small start-up like this, things they will ever survive with an attitude like ........

Wut?! You actually released the net NetdumaOS on the R1! '' Now that is great, but I wasn't pounding my head against the wall because of that, noooo, I was pounding my head because in my eyes the Netduma and it's Army was something special and you just threw it away.

I want to wish everyone good luck, I finally got my (R1) money back so it is time to move on.

Maybe I just bought it at the absolute worst time, but I remember seeing advertisements for "constant firmware upgrades" and "we have released 17 up until now" and all that nonsense.  I bought my router about 1.5 to 2 years ago.  It came from netduma with 1.0.3.6g.  1.0.3.6h was "off limits" for whatever reason, same thing with i.  I finally said "what the heck" and put on 1.3.6j.

I have had constant issues just trying to get the netduma to allow for full bandwidth downloads.  The gaming works great, but i can only ever achieve about 25% of my throughput.  This is due to my ISP using a product called SandVine which "shapes" certain types of traffic.  Basically, the netduma and my ISP are both competing to be the bottleneck.  I am a network engineer, and I get it.

My point is, there have been 0 updates other than EULA updates in the past 2 years.  I keep waiting for any update for this "always improving" and "continual upgrades" type of product.  The hardware is meh at best, and at this point -- I think I will be putting a WRT or CAKE image on it.  At least then, I can add LAN routes and VLan type settings; and even change the subnet mask (not everything needs a /24) -- you know the features I though they would be "continually adding and improving", or existent in a commercially available router.  (peplink is my preferred router vendor)

https://netduma.com/features/always-improving/-- Except for the past two years, and most likely the next two years.  Too bad, it actually did help with some of my lag while gaming.

Sorry to hear about your eye mate and consequences you've suffered due to it.

I can clear up a few things. The delay for Nighthawk(NH) availability outside of the US is due to NETGEARs distribution system. It just takes longer to reach different centres and channels, I don't know the details but that is the main reason. Also we need to fully integrate language translation into NH which we're doing at the moment. I know UK speaks English obiviousy but NG distributes in terms of regions. So UK is part of EU. To distribute to EU you need language translation for many countries.

DumaOS is not delayed on the R1 by NG. They have no such control over what we do with our own hardware and when we do it. We are partners with NG, we do not work for them, cannot state that more clearly. R1 is delayed due to hardware challenges we're solving at the moment namely automatic turbo mode(fastpath) which is required by DumaOS (user doesn't have to fiddle with UI to get max speeds) and finally how configurations are partitioned (hopefully making DumaOS unbrickable).

Finally our hardware will have more features because we will create experimental features based on our roadmap and community feedback. Only when NG approves of a new feature will it go on their router. So likely the NG will slightly behind our hardware in terms of bleeding edge features. Which for the typical consumer is ideal as they don't want to test out stuff that may not be useful or is complicated. But if you're that way inclined then enjoy the experience with our hardware.

Hope that clears up everything for you(Big Dog) and anyone else reading this thread. Here's to a very tech productive 2018!
