Did you know the Duma Army spans over 100 countries? For a bit of fun, we've created a Member Map. Tag your location in the world here:

(Obviously don't put your EXACT location, just put home town / state etc).

    Further to my previous reply
Looking at how hybrid VPN works, you have to specify which devices you want to use the VPN and I don't see an option for anything from the router routing over the VPN, on that assumption you should be able to enable/use the VPN server feature of the router to administer your router by VPN'ing into it via a dynamic DNS entry (if you have a dynamic ip assigned from your ISP).
I download the config file that the router produces and import it into an app called 'OpenVPN' on my phone.
Just make sure you tick the button that says 'Home Network only' otherwise all your traffic from your device would route to your house and then out of your home internet.
    Thanks,

    @peewii
Is this relating to the hybrid VPN? I haven't used it much as my NAS VPN had better throughput over the VPN vs VPN direct on the router.
What I tend to do if my girlfriend says there is problems at home with the internet when I am not around is VPN into my router (on my phone) and then I can http into it and browse it like I am there.
Obviously if the internet is down then the VPN won't work which means I know what the problem is 😁

If you send all your traffic from the router over the VPN then your dynamic dns will have the IP of your VPN tunnel rather than your actual home IP which would mean you are depending on the VPN failing completely and all traffic routes straight out the internet connection direct and your dns updates with your actual home internet IP to allow for you to VPN into the router

    Thanks,

PS - I hope the above made sense!
PSS - This is more of a possible workaround more than anything else lol

thanks for letting me know, lets hope its a quick setup, although i doubt it, I have to setup the modem, then xr500, then add the SX10 into the mix, then place the X6S upstairs

With the Hybrid VPN, it would be nice to support both whitelist AND blacklist.  In other words, to be able to select a limited number of devices/applications to always have on the VPN, or to select devices/applications which are always off the VPN, but everything else is on it.

UPDATED the original post to say this:
Closed beta testing of Hybrid VPN is now underway! Everyone who posted in this thread that owns an R1 will soon receive a private message with the upgrade firmware.
If you own an R1 and would like to help us test Hybrid VPN, please post in this thread.
XR500 & XR700 users - please also post in this thread if you are keen to test Hybrid VPN. NETGEAR may want to take a similar approach as we are doing with the R1 so building a list of willing testers could be very helpful.
    Thanks

We're working to speed this whole area up with NETGEAR! Obviously a big part of DumaOS is the speed and size of the upgrades, so with milestone 1.3 soon to come out we'll work together to get 1.4 out efficiently too.

With NordVPN they have some servers that do twice tunnelling (i.e you vpn into the 1st vpn server and that server is vpn'd into another server).

the NAS is mounted by it's ip address, then the network path for the plex folder on the NAS is added then the login credentials for the NAS  and that is it.

    Thanks Fraser,
I am not sure either to be honest, I know that the modem I use (DrayTek Vigor 130) has a feature to ‘broadcast dsl status to router in LAN’, whether this is proprietary or not I am not sure, if these broadcasted packets can be interpreted then a programmer could possibly write something to display it within a router GUI 😁, wishful thinking from myself more than likely though.
I will see if I can see anything in a packet capture when I am feeling better maybe.

Good suggestion, will have to see if that's possible. I imagine will be hard to grab it as every modem will be different.

It would be nice if the network monitor could be enhanced so there is access to historical information as well as the live data.
I know there is the traffic meter which shows usage per day, week and month etc. But I would like to see this information per device and also as a category breakdown like in the live network monitor.

This is a great suggestion, thanks for sharing! I don't think it's limited by RAM or Storage Azza since every router DumaOS is on has plenty of storage space (and the Nighthawks especially have more than enough RAM). I'm not a programmer so I don't know for sure, but it's within the realms of possible.
We'll be announcing a public roadmap soon to show you guys where DumaOS is heading, but this is one of those features which we've had our eyes on for a while. We'd like to see data usage over time as well, it'd be super useful!

This is a great summary. Our Hybrid VPN feature allows you to use any OpenVPN provider (most are). You can then select which devices and applications you want to apply the VPN to.
We can't give a release date because it's a big feature and is going through NETGEAR's testing right now. Hopefully it won't be long though.

    Hi everyone,

With the increase in activity on the forum that we are likely to see with the launch of DumaOS we thought it apt to bolster our forum staff. Therefore we have decided to add 3 new moderators to the team. They are all old school DumaArmy members and have recently been a lot more active on the forum giving support to those who need it outside the Netduma working hours.

So please join me in welcoming & congratulating
iAmMoDBoX BIG__DOG pollutionblues on becoming our new moderators!
