Skill has raised which is true. However, ranked isn't going to solve any issues. Public matches are the exact same as ranked considering the SBMM (there is no argument, even pros acknowledge and avoid the game because of it, it is there) is in every match. If you have an issue with my sponging bullets because of the bad lag compensation, then your issue is never with the user. Its with the company that designed it. Complain to Activision.

Anyone get geolocate to work for MW3
Nuschler22 replied to Nuschler22's topic in Call of Duty Support
I don't think anything is working, but thanks. As I said in a reply to you in another topic, the only success I'm having is bypassing the router entirely and going modem to console. It has way to many errors including not even showing Im on xbox live playing older games though the XBX home screen is fine, strict nat, booted from games, etc. -
FIRMWARE: 3.3.308 Smart QoS (Hit Detection)
Nuschler22 replied to TODDzillaInLA's topic in Call of Duty Support
Keep in mind first that playing on the Xbox Series X (XSX), when you select an older game, it starts some sort of Xbox 360 emulator as the old Xbox 360 start screen and music comes up. Also, it links to the traditional Xbox 360 home screen for invites and such. Playing MW2 (2009) and older games, with any settings enabled on the router (QoS, geo, etc) the game has issues and won't connect most of the time. It not only won't find a game, but when the game starts on the XSX, it shows that I'm not even online on xbox live. Yet, when I go to the XSX home screen, I'm online and can play other games and navigate the store and xbox game pass. I had some success playing yesterday wirelessly, but obviously that isn't ideal. It still had numerous issues finding matches and would boot me from games. If it does manage to show I'm on xbox live, I'm constantly getting a strict NAT even with port forwarding for the classic games, where I don't have that issue with the newer games. Hence, only hooking from modem to console and bypassing the router eliminates (for the most part) those issues. -
I just use the Geo Filter. But, once again, this doesn't give you the best experience other than sponging bullets. It's still quite laggy. I find that I'm the one shooting people behind walls and getting the benefit when I get heads up fights. It's just not a great experience.

FIRMWARE: 3.3.308 Smart QoS (Hit Detection)

I assume that SmartQoS is not available for the XR500, or is it compatible? Also, how do I sign up? Trying to get my router to work in some way. Having more issues now than ever before. Right now, to play CoD and have any chance, I have to: 1) Unplug the modem 2) Send modem cable to xbox directly 3) Restart modem And then hook back up to my router so the rest of the house has internet when I'm done. Getting very old. -
Anyone get geolocate to work for MW3

Appreciated. You guys are good guys. Just very frustrated with things not working. -
There is a large component of Lag Compensation that affects those that have a great connection with low latency and buffer bloat. As I recall, CoD uses time rewind lag compensation which basically says if you both meet at "x" time, what would the outcome have been if you had an equal connection. That's why there are so many "behind cover" kills in this game where you think you should be safe. You are safe, but the lag compensation has awarded the kill to the person that has the higher latency because had it been equal, the game judges that they would have killed you. It shouldn't happen, but being from the western United States, I can geolocate (when it works) to Australia and have a latency around 150-200 ms where I sponge bullets. There is normal lag, and it's not the greatest experience, but I can get kill streaks that I can't get with the best connection which shouldn't happen. I am about 22 ms on average away from two major servers. There is basically no difference between those that are closer, but since I'm so close, the whole part of the US that is farther out but the game connects them to the servers I'm on have a pretty noticeable difference in lag compensation. The developer, or even the specific game, can greatly affect the benefit the higher latency gets. In older CoD's when they use to come out with patch notes about LC, and they would actually say how they adjusted the lag compensation, but they stopped doing that pretty quickly. One huge issue is that the person with the higher latency always benefits. Being the lower latency, if I come around the corner at the same time someone else with a higher latency does, I can't do anything differently to affect that gunfight knowing that he will get about a 20ms "benefit," and sometimes more, of when the shots were fired making almost every heads up match virtually impossible to win verse someone with higher latency. In older CoD's, I can run around the map and go heads up constantly. Now, I have to camp and pick people off to have any chance to do well. There is a great paper from Valve corporation about lag compensation that describes what's going on, and why you're losing fights you shouldn't.

Anyone get geolocate to work for MW3
Nuschler22 replied to Nuschler22's topic in Call of Duty Support
No thanks. I'm done tyring to get this to work. Its never worked right even with supported products. It's never helped with any game I've played with it and I'm done pretending it will ever help with any game I play. Its always the users fault somehow. Resync, reset, use this setting instead of that one. And the games always show no difference in hit detection, be it a console or PC game. Take care. -
Anyone get geolocate to work for MW3
Nuschler22 replied to Nuschler22's topic in Call of Duty Support
I'm done. Sick of this not working. Ever. Leaving reviews and filing a complaint with the BBB for fraud. It's been years of it not working as advertised. Having to constantly jump through hoops to get something to work and it's still never giving a decent connection is ludicrous. I have better games just hooking up modem to console. My fault for buying a second one of these. Feel free to close my forum account. Its pretty obvious that you guys don't read what people write anyway. I clearly stated Xbox and your instructions were either generic and copy and pasted or oblivious to what my statement actually said. -
Anyone get geolocate to work for MW3
Nuschler22 replied to Nuschler22's topic in Call of Duty Support
I tried the above instructions and it still doesn't work. If I set the geolocate to my preferred area before entering the game, about half the time it says I'm not connected to xbox live. But when I do connect, it still doesn't work. To get it to connect to xbox live reliably, I have to maximize the area on the geolocate. When I reach the "find march" area, I reduce it to my preferred area, but it still doesn't work. The games are all peer to peer. When the game searches, it shows the peers often as servers. Also, when it's searching, everyone outside the area shows like it normally would when it's working correctly by showing they aren't allowed to connect. However, it still connects to them anyway despite showing they are blocked. -

Geo locate, in no way, works with MW3. Not to be glib, butI'm not sure what other information is needed. The game seaeches from lower latency to higher and shows you the latency it's currently searching. I'm in the US, and I have the Geo locate set to the western half of the US. From my location, I know that this area is about 50 to 60 ms of latency in my search area. From my location, I know the usual the max latency for anywhere in the US is between 75 (typical) to 100 (atypical) ms at most. The game commonly searches well past the location and will connect me with games far outside the set get locate area which I can see when it connects. Typically, when it's working, it will only search in the lower latency areas and max out at my set geo locate area or ping. I've tried using latency only searches set to 75 ms both with my normal geo locate area and the area set to 0 miles, which has worked in the past. But neither the locate or ping work at all. I've also tried to test setting my location to a different area (which can help with really noticeable lag compensation and to test that geo locate is working properly). When I do, for example, put myself in Australia, the search begins in that area (175 to 200 ms) and I connect to people in that area. But it doesn't work at all with any of the older CoD games including MW3. I have strict set so it shouldn't be finding me games outside the area. -
SmartQoS Version 4 like having AimBot!

Anyone that doesn't think EOMM or SBMM isn't a thing can't be very good. Considering pros hate it as much as the "people that complain about anything," I would say you're living in a fairytale land believing it doesn't exist. There is something to be said about lag compensation adding difficulty as well because when I geo locate (when it decides to work) to the other side of the world, I have my best games. Its also been proven by a couple of well known you tubers working together that SBMM prefers that or over latency. I've played a few "EOMM doesn't exist" people in local matches and they've been terrible every time. I've also let them play on my account and they can't compete in any way. It's sad how bad they've been. -
Anyone get geolocate to work for MW3
Nuschler22 replied to Nuschler22's topic in Call of Duty Support
What does the radius have to do with geolocate not working? I'm getting plenty of games, it's just not restricting the search at all. I'm getting 40 plus good games in my area, but it keeps searching well outside the radius. And restricting by latency doesn't work at all. Just very sick of this router never working as intended, which seems to be the vast majority of the time. -
Since xbox is fixing the servers, I'm sure many are playing the older games again. It's been a lot of fun. However, for MW3, which really started the extreme lag compensation issues that preceded the even worse SBMM system, I can't seem to get geolocate to work. Trying by location or ping level, it doesn't work at all. Thanks in advance for any help.

Whether it's issues with geolocate, the QOS or the app just freezing on my phone, after a few years of having this, it's more of a bother than it's worth. Playing MW3 and geolocate flat out won't work. The app freezes constantly. The computer constantly brings up the tutorial not matter how many times I press the button not to show it again. I spent hours trying to figure out why games weren't connecting to the internet on my Xbox only to find a little blurb somewhere on this site that said the either QOS or geolocate (I forget which) can cause issues and not to activate it until you reach the multi-player screen. Use this, don't use this, sync the cloud, make sure this random feature is set to this setting. After years of using this on two different routers, it would be nice if things works easily. My fault for buying a second one, I suppose. Devs are very nice which is the only reason I bought another router. I was hoping after (I think five years of dealing with this) that things would be smoother. Not the case. Rant over.

I believe it might be all working now. Thank you very much for your help, Liam. I wrote the below as I was testing everything. I'm going to leave it just in case I have issues again. Thanks again! Ping heat map and connection test indeed work on Micro Edge which I'll use from now on. I was unable to get Chrome to stop forcing a htttps connection. Thank you! My modem is a Netgear CM1000 hardwired to XR500 direct to PC with an ethernet cable. The VLAN not checked, DHCP is checked under LAN settings. I don't know what PPPoE is and I searched quite a bit where to find in the router. If it's in the modem, there is no settings that can be changed in the modem itself on my end. I have Cox cable in Arizona, so maybe by that you'll know from what I'm reading. Sorry I couldn't be more help there. I've set the PC to "Games Console" and "Normal" in traffic prioritization in the QoS settings.
-
First again, thanks for all your help Liam. It normally does show the blocked icon as well as all the other icons outside the circle when I've played on console. It doesn't show it on PC when I'm attempting to do it now. All that comes up are random servers and usually only one or two. I usually get a single user inside the circle as well. Just roughly, about 10 percent of the time, the game connects within the circle (which is in the Chicago area and I'm in Arizona). For QoS, the packet counters do increase. I have my speed set as 500/35 with the rule allowing only 20mb and 5mb, and it doesn't work for any settings including my usual 80/80 setting. When I run the speed test, it's from the same device, my PC, while the game is working. In the past, this shows the throttling working fine. I can try it from a mobile phone the next time. Just curious, though. Shouldn't it restrict all traffic when it's in "always" mode? And shouldn't it restrict it when I'm doing a test on my PC while currently in a game on the PC? I've resynced the cloud in geofilter (shows applying settings), QoS (spins and resets) and device manager (does nothing). Keep in mind that I've also done a factory reset on the router with the same results before and after the reset. No part of heat ping map is working for any game. It takes about 30-45 seconds for the "Ping" to show up. Otherwise, it's greyed out. Pinging does nothing and the "Ping" just goes grey again. Thanks again.
-
Geo filter isn't working. It has worked, then stops working and I can't find a game. QoS doesn't work at all. I've done speed tests while the game is actually playing and it doesn't work at all. It's not throttling in any way. I've done the resync thing numerous times in every menu I could find resync available. I've reset the router, the modem. I've gone to the trouble of resetting the router to default which was a huge pain because I have a lot of things attached to it. QoS makes a big difference in CoD, and when it's not working, it's noticeable. As the pictures and my posts explained, I have "C" rated bufferbloat with every setting I've tried, and it's very noticeable in game. I'm used to having A+ with previous iterations of Call of Duty.
-
I'm not able to run a connection test. It times out. This occurred before I factory reset the router as well. Same issue after. When I detect speeds in QoS, it sets my speed around 320mb down and 36-37mb up. My up is capped at 35 usually and has been pretty spot on in previous testing before today. Image 1 is geofilter, strict mode on. Fast search not enabled, but I usually have that enabled when it's working. Image 2 and 3 are my QoS settings prior to setting them at 40/70 percent and doing connection test. Image 4 is my connection test timing out. I assume that I shouldn't be getting any results for any other games as well in ping heat map. Also, I was advised to set the PC as a game console. Are those settings right for a PC? Thanks again. Edit: to add detect speed information.
-
I'll do this in a couple posts because it's a lot of information. I can't whitelist 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net because I get the following error. When I continue to the site, it doesn't connect. Image 1 is how I have it whitelisted. Image 2 shows the error I get. When I continue, it doesn't load. Thanks for the help, by the way. Very frustrated.

To be honest, and I realize those at NetDuma have been trying to help, I'm extremely frustrated with how poorly this router is now working. Geolocate doesn't work, and rarely shows anything. Ping Heatmap doesn't work for MW2 or any other game. And now I've noticed that QoS doesn't work in any way. I'm really at my wit's end trying to deal with this device that's supposed to help gaming, and not add more frustrations. I bought the router to help with the one online game I play, Call of Duty. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but it seems to not work at all for any task I try to assign with MW2, on PC while working fine on PS5 for Cold War. Now, the QoS doesn't work at all. I've recently changed from gaming on the PS5 to the PC, and while I had issues with the PS5 and this router, nothing at all seems to work on the PC. The settings (gaming console, gaming/voice) were done as a suggestion from a NetDuma person in another topic which I can't find or I would have added to that one. So, apologies if I'm creating an unnecessary topic. I've tried to use "WAN" as well seeing a suggestion somewhere online from a NetDuma person and it didn't work. I've tried most of the variations. My normal bandwidth is anywhere from 500-1000 mb download and 35 mb upload. I have the QoS settings at 20mb and 5mb currently to show a good disparity, and because that's what's helped games play smoothly in the past with little lag compensation. However, I've used 80 percent of my speed, and let NetDuma set my speed as well, and get the same results. The first image shows the connection forced, which I attempted to do because it wasn't working with auto enabled. I'll just post this one photo, but the "C" connection with similar speed is what I get for 1) forced, 2) auto enabled logged into CoD and 3) auto enabled actually in game. The second image is the QoS connections which include the PC on which I'm playing. Some additional information. I use Bitdefender anti-virus and it always gives me a notification that the site (192.168.1.1) is not trusted. When I whitelist the site in Bitdefender, the program does not work for some reason. I get a JSON error, I believe it's called. I've tried disabling Bitdefender anti-virus and I have the same issues. I have Ad Block Plus and Disabled HTML5 Autoplay as chrome extensions, and both have this site whitelisted. I've turned off both completely with the same issues. Edit: No heatmap still for any game after factory reset. Still setting up everything else.
-
Notice the "ping" is greyed out. I use Bitdefender anti-virus and have paused that and it does the same thing. When I attempt to resync cloud, I often get timeout errors. In network device, resync cloud is greyed out. Also, it takes an extraordinary long time for anything on any page in Netduma to load. Usually, it loads quickly. It's taking 45 seconds to a minute if it loads at all.
