Zero_Actual
When I do local speed/ping test I get anywhere from 40ms-60ms to a local server say 10miles to 50miles away. But when I test to a server in Texas (I live in Iowa, about 500 miles away) I ping that server every time at 25ms? When playing cod using the geofilter I get the same results. High pings to closer servers, low ping to the Texas servers. Any ideas on why this is? Does it have to do with how my ISP is routed? I have Cox cable and they have major hubs in Omaha, Texas, Arizona and the New York area could this be why?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 24, 2015 Administrators Share Posted November 24, 2015 On the Geo, the servers close to you could be mis located which would be one scenario, in which case the local speed test to you is likely overloaded. See if there are other servers close by in Iowa that you can do a speed test on and see if it is the same.
Zero_Actual
I have tried two servers literally 25 miles away with same result, 40-50ms ping. Like you said they may be overloaded. But I ping almost anywhere in the U.S. And get 40-55ms. West Coast pings up to 75ms. Just for some odd reason Texas servers give the best results.
