Nestor
New owner of the Netduma. One question is that Netduma claims I'm connected to a router, but it's my Xfinity modem that has a built in router, but we disabled the router feature awhile back. Will I run into any problems? Thanks.
PharmDawgg
What router did you use before the Netduma with your Xfinity modem/router? Did you use the router built in or did you use another separate router?
Nestor
I used a Netgear R6300.
PharmDawgg
There should not be any problems. Xfinity (Combo unit) in bridge mode( router component turned off)> Netduma R1> Netgear R6300( as access point - optional) It should work fine.
Nestor
Here's the thing, when I enabled bridge mode on my Xfinity modem, it completely messed up my internet. So the bridge mode is disabled.
PharmDawgg
After you set the Combo router/modem to bridge mode, press the reset button on the back of it so the modem restarts. It should fix your internet problems.
Nestor
Everything seems ok now. I'm not tech savvy, but what exactly does enabling bridge mode do? Does that mean everything passes through my Netduma instead of the modem?

It shuts off the internal router functions so you can use your own router. In the case of using the R1 you should definitely be using bridge mode, or purchase your own modem without a built in router. Saving yourself the monthly rental fee from comcast also.
