Xfinity 2 in 1 query.

Recommended Posts

New owner of the Netduma. One question is that Netduma claims I'm connected to a router, but it's my Xfinity modem that has a built in router, but we disabled the router feature awhile back. Will I run into any problems?

Thanks.

There should not be any problems.

Xfinity (Combo unit) in bridge mode( router component turned off)> Netduma R1> Netgear R6300( as access point - optional)

It should work fine.

Everything seems ok now. I'm not tech savvy, but what exactly does enabling bridge mode do? Does that mean everything passes through my Netduma instead of the modem?

Enabling bridge mode makes your modem/router combo into a modem only. It shuts off the internal router functions so you can use your own router. In the case of using the R1 you should definitely be using bridge mode, or purchase your own modem without a built in router. Saving yourself the monthly rental fee from comcast also.
