Hello Netduma Support Team,

I'm using a Netduma R3 with DumaOS 4, and I play Fortnite on PC.

I'm experiencing an issue with Steady Ping when connecting to the Doha (Qatar) server.

Steady Ping appears to be active and working in the DumaOS router interface, but the added latency is not reflected in Fortnite.

My setup and ping results:

  • Platform: PC (Windows)

  • Game: Fortnite

  • Server: Doha, Qatar

  • Normal in-game ping: 43–46 ms

  • Steady Ping buffer: 20 ms

  • Expected ping: Approximately 63–66 ms

  • Actual in-game ping: Still 43–46 ms

The DumaOS interface indicates that Steady Ping is applying the buffer, but my in-game ping remains unchanged.

My main concern is whether Steady Ping is actually applying the additional latency to Fortnite's game traffic or only showing it in the router interface.

Is this a known issue with Fortnite on PC or specifically with the Doha server?

Is there any setting, workaround, or firmware fix that could resolve this issue?

Thank you for your support!

Steady Ping doesn't work 100% of the time but in your case it's unable to ping the server so it's going to have a hard time determining what your ping should be to ensure it gets in that range you expect. There isn't anything you can specifically do about it, game servers don't always respond to pings, we try to be clever to workaround it but it doesn't always work. Also in most cases the simple option for Steady Ping would be enough.
