Hello! Having some trouble connecting to my Chicago server (local) for COD Bo7. Also need help in getting an A+ on bufferbloat without totally destroying my download and upload speeds. Thanks.

  • What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode
  • Are ALL devices connected to the R3?
  • What are the speeds you pay for/receive?
  • Have you entered those speeds into the router?
  • How have you setup Congestion Control?
  • How have you setup SmartBOOST?
  • What platform are you playing on and how is it connected, via ethernet or WiFi?
  • How have you setup the Geo-Filter?

I will try to answer this as smooth as possible well also looking for advice with setting.

1. I have the DumaR3 connected to my Xfinity CBR2 Gateway Modem. I believe I have all my traffic flowing correctly with that setup.

2. I only have my PC connected to the R3 via Ethernet with no other devices connected.

3. I pay for 1250down/300up and get about 1400 down and 310up.

4. I let the DumaR3 run the test for for speeds and it was accurate.

5. I have it congestion control set to advanced and have both down and up set to 90%.

6. For smart boost I literally just did my PC and the gaming category. I don’t know if that’s good or bad.

7. I play PC on battle.net via Ethernet.

8. For the geo filter I just used the “use my location” option and then put the radius to about 530 meters. It still won’t consistently connect me to that Chicago server and stabilize ping for some reason.

Any help is much appreciated and if you need any fine tune settings from my side or anything specifics just let me know. Thank you so much!

Your Xfinity gateway provides WiFi is that correct? In which case you'll need to put it in bridge mode or put the R3 in its DMZ.

Does that mean you have devices connected to the gateway still?

Always, Auto or Low Latency for Congestion Control? You'll need to experiment with the percentage here to improve your bufferbloat results. Keep in mind if you have speed test bypass enabled here you'll need to disable it for the test to register better to your changes. SmartBOOST is set fine.

For the Geo-Filter:

  1. Quit the application/game/client completely - including the Battle.net client from the System Tray - important!
  2. Remove device from the Geo-Filter
  3. Give the PC the PlayStation Device Type in the Device Manager
  4. Resync from the Geo-Filter Map menu
  5. Re-add the device to the Geo-Filter
  6. Set up the Geo-Filter how you like
  7. Wait 2 minutes
  8. Boot up application/game/client

To force servers you need to do the following:

It's essential the Geo-Filter is enabled before the game client (e.g. Steam etc) or the game have been launched. If you change Geo-Filter settings when you're on the game then you will need to restart the game for those changes to take effect, otherwise it will use the previous Geo-Filter settings and appear not to be working.

For settings ensure Ping Assist and Geo-Latency are disabled in the Geo-Filter menu that can be found by clicking ⋮ in the top right hand corner of the page and go to Settings.

Strict Mode should also be enabled, it is enabled by default so if you haven't disabled it you can ignore it. If you have disabled it or want to check it can be found in the same Settings menu as above or in Settings > Troubleshooting > Advanced > Developer Options depending on your firmware version. Fast Search should also be disabled which it is by default so can be ignored if you haven't changed it, otherwise this can be found in the same place.
