Trying to connect to home network with "VPN service" tab

Im trying to set up a VPN so I can connect to my home network with my iphone (using openVPN) while traveling. I am able to connect to the internet via the VPN (I can confirm because my pihole setup blocks ads when connected to VPN, and by checking IP address) but my issue is that no matter what I do I cant connect to my local network, meaning I cannot connect to my computers files, tried reinstalling VPN profiles, changing settings in DumaOS, and googling my issues (unforunately when you search VPN it comes up with only HybridVPN issues) The setting for "Clients will use this VPN connection to access:" is currently set to "Home network only" so I would assume that this would allow connections to computers on my local network? or am I misunderstanding this whole setup? Ive read that it could be a firewall issue or probably even a pihole issue but im not TOO networking savvy so I dont know

What's your exact physical home setup and how is it set to allow the XR to have direct access to the internet? This is a NTGR feature so we're not as knowledgeable on it but we'll do what we can to help
