Tareq193 Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Hi Team, I purchased the Netduma R3 two weeks ago, and I have an EE 1.6 Gb internet connection. At first, I connected directly to the Netduma using PPPoE, but the maximum download speed I could reach was only 200–300 Mbps (with SmartBoost turned off). However, when I connect through the EE WiFi Hub using DHCP, I get the full speed of around 850–900 Mbps. In both cases, though, I still experience lag and buffering in gaming most of the time. Another issue I’m facing is with the dashboards — they don’t register my usage at all. It doesn’t detect my gaming, working, or video activity, and the entire dashboard page keeps freezing, taking a long time to load or open different tabs (e.g., Geo-filtering). I’ve tested this both on the mobile app and on my laptop with the same results. I also tried a factory reset of the router, but only the video dashboard time appeared (and has since disappeared again). Please see the attached photo. Could you please advise me on how to resolve these issues? Thank you
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 4 Administrators Posted September 4 I've given you Early Access in case you'd like to try that firmware to look for improvements: https://forum.netduma.com/forum/151-netduma-r3-early-access It looks like you're still experiencing buffering/lag because you've not set Congestion Control. Start with 70% for download/upload - Ping Optimizer > Advanced and then fine tune from there if needed. The Gaming/Work/Video panels on the dashboard we're aware are a bit hit or miss currently, we're working to improve upon that. Regarding the interface: What browser/device are you using to access? Make sure you're accessing via HTTP (some browsers force HTTPS) If you have an Adblocker enabled disable it for the interface Clear browser cache/cookies, reload each page of the interface once and should be faster after that
Tareq193 Posted September 22 Author Posted September 22 Hi Fraser, I have downloaded the early access firmware, but I’m still experiencing a number of bugs: WiFi connection issue: I can’t connect to WiFi anymore. I tried resetting, but the problem remains. The router only works via a wired connection. (This started after updating to the early access firmware.) Lag and buffering: I’m experiencing a lot of lag and buffering even though I only use my connection for my PS5. I have EE 1.6 Gb and tested both PPPoE and DHCP connections with the same result. I also applied all the settings you previously suggested for Netduma. Slow router access: I can’t easily access the router interface. It takes a long time to load (see attached photos). I tested this on two different laptops and two different phones (iOS & Android, back when WiFi was working), as well as across different browsers, but the issue persists. Hardware checks: I replaced the EE router in case the issue was coming from there, but I had the same result. I also tested with different Ethernet cables, but no improvement. Mobile App: I can’t access the router at all from the mobile app. When WiFi was still working, it showed an “unknown error” every time I tried. I would be grateful if you could help me resolve these issues — I was really hoping that Netduma would deliver the best gaming experience. Thank you
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 22 Administrators Posted September 22 I've moved your post into your original topic for consistency as I had no idea what you were referring to. It'd be a good idea to do a factory reset from the interface now that you're on this version and see what issues remain. What is actually happening when you try to connect via WiFi? What ping are you seeing in game and on the Geo-Filter? What game are you playing? When are you playing? Factory reset should help with the slow access
Tareq193 Posted September 23 Author Posted September 23 Hi Fraser, I’ve already done a factory reset more than once, but I’m still experiencing the same issues. The ping is very good at 8ms, and I play eFootball, but the same issues occur at all times — even after midnight. Thank you, Tareq
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 23 Administrators Posted September 23 And is the ping stable at 8ms? That is an exceptionally good ping, 5ms is basically LAN so I can't see how you'd be experiencing lag at least from any cause on your side. What is actually happening when you try to connect via WiFi? What settings do you change after a factory reset exactly?
Tareq193 Posted September 23 Author Posted September 23 This is exactly what’s shocking me, everything looks right. I tried playing without the Netduma today and still had the same issue: the game feels heavy and there’s buffering from time to time. I’ll be switching from EE to Vodafone next week, and hopefully these issues will be resolved. I’ll update you then
