TORN Posted May 31 Posted May 31 I just upgraded to fiber. I get 2.1 Gigs down and 2.1 gigs up. The R3 is set at 1 gig. is this all it can handle or is there a setting I’m not seeing?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 31 Administrators Posted May 31 It's limited to 1Gbps so you won't be able to utilize half the speed through the R3
TORN Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 That’s what I thought. Is there another model/make you’d suggest that can handle that?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 31 Administrators Posted May 31 There aren't any existing DumaOS routers that can handle more than that that are current
talbyfish Posted June 1 Posted June 1 I found when I first got my fibre 1gb download i could only get that speed using Ethernet cable, most wireless devices will only get around 600mbps download unless you have the latest tech.
Alias 1aB Posted June 22 Posted June 22 in order to take full advantage of 2 Gigabit fiber connection, you would need a router with at least 2.5 Gbps ports and computers with 2.5 Gbps ethernet ports. No game consoles or other electronic devices have faster than 1 Gbps ports. I dont think a lot of people who pay for 2 Gigabit fiber internet realize they will really never be able to take full advantage of that much bandwidth. My 1 Gigabit fiber actually comes in at 1.25 Gbps but I have exactly one device that can even see that speed! And that requires plugging it straight in the fiber gateway. The most bandwidth the R3 is going to max out at is 950 Mbps.
