Strange spike lags

Recommended Posts

I got some strange spike lag only when i play on cod since a week for no reason, i tried game on pc, ps5, xbox with different cable for each device (I changed also the router ethernet port)  and even on wifi, but I still got spike lags . My network system is a ISP modem/router and xr1000 linked to isp router. Every device is connected to the xr1000. I set qos in the right way and it worked well for 9 months. I tried playing on isp router and the spike lag are gone, so I guess the problem is in xr1000. xr1000 IP is set in the dmz zone iof isp router. reset the router 4 times but spike lags are still there. Even if only one device is connected i got lags. I played phasmophobia on PS5 and spike lag are gone. I don't know what's happening

Have you double checked the WAN IP of the XR is still the same as the IP you've set in the ISP modem router? If it's specifically just the one game then it's very likely on the game side.

What are the speeds you pay for/receive?

Have you entered those speeds into the router?

How have you setup QoS?

How have you setup the Geo-Filter?

On ISP router I set static IP for xr1000 IP on dhcp settings and i double checked it's the correct IP right now. I got 45 mbps (down) and 19 mbps (up). My qos is 35% down and 31% up with traffic priority on every device. Geo filter is configured to get 35 ms max server but if i get 40ms server i still got spike lags

but i don't get spike lags when i'm not connected to the xr1000 and this started to manifest itself randomly

Your QoS percentages are really low, I don't think you need to have them that low down. Traffic Priority on every device basically means you have traffic priority on no device, you've made them all equal. Just prioritize your game rather than everything. Do you mean you've set Ping Assist for the Geo-Filter?

If you could provide some screenshots of the QoS and Geo-Filter pages I can take a look

I mean the traffic priority is set for every device i play cod (pc, xbox and ps5) and not vot every device i connected.

I tried the automatic QOS setup but i got lags for bufferbloat so I reduce it testing till I got 0 bufferbloat

I just reset the rputer recently so in traffic overview there are no Prioritized Download.

Put Ping Assist at 0 otherwise you can get games higher than that and outside your radius too.

Follow this guide https://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000074717-how-to-test-your-internet-ping while downloading & start with 95% for Congestion Control (set to Always), check results, decrease by 10%, check, decrease by 10% etc, until you get to a value that is pretty good & then try 5% either side of that value to see if it can be improved. Download & Upload on Congestion Control don't have to be the same value & you may have a better experience with differing values. This will be more of a real world test.

ping assist is set to 35ms but if i set it to 0, nothing changes because with this settings i did 9 month ago, never got any issue so i don't understand why I should test again if i'm already on a low %. The link you posted : 404 This page could not be found.

I did everything you told me, I got a new setting for qos with 25mbps on download but i still see spike lags on geo filter ping graphics so i don't know if the graphics is broken. The cod ping telemetry told me 20/21 ms but on duma os ping graphics I see ping goes from 21 to 50 and back to 21 in less than a second

If you followed the steps correctly for PingPlotter and got the best percentages for Congestion Control then you can rule out lag coming from your side. In which case the spike in the game ping would be on the game side, or on your ISP side but basically outside your control at that point
