Ragnarok96
So I have had my R3 since September last year and its been pretty golden with minor issues past the first few weeks and firmwares getting everything set right and its been pretty set and forget, but for some reason now on the speed test on the router, it can only pull 600Mbps down when the line is meant to be at least 900Mbps, but even then when downloading things on steam they are capping out at download rate of 11-12MB/s which is less than 100Mbps, so I am not exactly sure what is going on here now, maybe something with the latest firmware update? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 6 Administrators Share Posted May 6 What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Are ALL devices connected to the R3? Have you entered those speeds into the router? How have you setup Congestion Control? How have you setup SmartBOOST? What speeds do you get via ethernet to speedtest.net? Are you downloading over WiFi or ethernet?
Ragnarok96
It is connected directly to the ONT, this was showing better results for the longest time, there is no other routing devices only one access point. The speeds have been set in the router since day one but suffering heavily the last couple weeks, wondering if as a result of the firmware update. Congestion control is enabled, but to limit speeds to 95% automatically only when latency dependant traffic is detected, but it is not getting anywhere near that speed now, although it use to. Same with smart boost, that has also been enabled since day one and supposedly improved ping and had no visible impact to speeds. From the PC using speedtest.net is showing idle ping of 6ms, download speed of and upload of both 94mbps with low ping on download 5, high at 282 and average of 36, which is considerably worse then it has been for a long time, maybe a new version of ping optimizer in the firmware update did something? and then on upload showing a low ping of 25, high of 625 and average of 262 all with 0 jitter. I always use my devices wired that can be, such as the PC as I have found it to always have more speed and reliability, so yes this is via ethernet. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 8 Administrators Share Posted May 8 I believe it'll be due to you using PPPoE, we are aware the speeds through the router when using PPPoE can be reduced. If you have your ISP modem/router handle PPPoE instead do you then get better speeds through the R3?
Ragnarok96
I will try it when I get a chance, but at first the speeds were better with the PPPoE on the R3 for the last few months

Ragnarok96
Is there anything else you believe would be causing this issue? it seems odd because literally out of nowhere the download speeds dropped from 111MB/s to 11MB/s without changing anything besides a firmware update recently. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Monday at 02:21 PM Administrators Share Posted Monday at 02:21 PM Try downgrading the firmware to the previous version, do the speeds return when using PPPoE?
Ragnarok96
I'm not sure what version I was on previously, I think it was a beta version you provided before, but this new version was one that prompted an update inside the router frontend itself so I assumed it was a new stable version

This is likely the version you were on previously, downgrade to that and see if you get the same issue: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/57983-new-r3-firmware-dumaos-40540/
Ragnarok96
That firmware appears to be the same as the one the routers management page downloaded as the update and what is currently running as it says v4.0.540 at the top already
Ragnarok96
I think it may have been version 4.0.402 that I had before, would reverting to this work and would I need to do a factory reset either before or after?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Monday at 07:30 PM Administrators Share Posted Monday at 07:30 PM Ahh I see, well given you're on that version and in Early Access already it would be a good idea to try the very latest early access firmware first: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/58424-new-r3-firmware-dumaos-40645/ you don't need to factory reset after unless you want to/notice an issue. Otherwise you could try dropping to a previous version, the last public version before the one you're on is https://forum.netduma.com/topic/57039-new-r3-firmware-dumaos-40290/ which is quite a leap down so I'd suggest going up to the Early Access one first
