Ragnarok96
So I have had my R3 since September last year and its been pretty golden with minor issues past the first few weeks and firmwares getting everything set right and its been pretty set and forget, but for some reason now on the speed test on the router, it can only pull 600Mbps down when the line is meant to be at least 900Mbps, but even then when downloading things on steam they are capping out at download rate of 11-12MB/s which is less than 100Mbps, so I am not exactly sure what is going on here now, maybe something with the latest firmware update? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted Tuesday at 02:44 PM Administrators Share Posted Tuesday at 02:44 PM What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Are ALL devices connected to the R3? Have you entered those speeds into the router? How have you setup Congestion Control? How have you setup SmartBOOST? What speeds do you get via ethernet to speedtest.net? Are you downloading over WiFi or ethernet?
Ragnarok96
It is connected directly to the ONT, this was showing better results for the longest time, there is no other routing devices only one access point. The speeds have been set in the router since day one but suffering heavily the last couple weeks, wondering if as a result of the firmware update. Congestion control is enabled, but to limit speeds to 95% automatically only when latency dependant traffic is detected, but it is not getting anywhere near that speed now, although it use to. Same with smart boost, that has also been enabled since day one and supposedly improved ping and had no visible impact to speeds. From the PC using speedtest.net is showing idle ping of 6ms, download speed of and upload of both 94mbps with low ping on download 5, high at 282 and average of 36, which is considerably worse then it has been for a long time, maybe a new version of ping optimizer in the firmware update did something? and then on upload showing a low ping of 25, high of 625 and average of 262 all with 0 jitter. I always use my devices wired that can be, such as the PC as I have found it to always have more speed and reliability, so yes this is via ethernet. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted 8 hours ago Administrators Share Posted 8 hours ago I believe it'll be due to you using PPPoE, we are aware the speeds through the router when using PPPoE can be reduced. If you have your ISP modem/router handle PPPoE instead do you then get better speeds through the R3?
