Dane Posted May 2 Share Posted May 2 Hi , I have an issue where my ping is 50-60ms on Fortnite to London servers from uk . to router it says 6ms but on the geo filter screen you can see what server you are connected to and it says 25-30 ms ping London , then Fortnite says 50-60ms . Take filtering off and bam normal ping but tossed around Europe so get high ping for them countries ( Paris , Frankfurt etc) hence why I would like less then 10ms ping which should be achieved. What is the 'normal' ping you're getting to the London server without the Geo-Filter enabled? Are you confirming you are actually getting the London server in that scenario with the Geo-Filter just with filtering disabled? Have you enabled Game Mode/activated boost? Geo Filtering ON - SIMPLe- Radius whole of Europe - ping London 9-12ms Fance 12-17 Frankfurt 17-23ms so I know it can be done just does not like UK only … Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dane Posted May 2 Author Share Posted May 2 Yes I activated it and I even done a full factory reset and just connected my PS5 pro and still same , got a brand new cat 8( overkill I know) cable and still same .. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 2 Administrators Share Posted May 2 The ping you see on Ping Optimiser is the ping you're receiving from the test server it's using, connecting to other servers, e.g. game servers won't necessarily mean you get a ping that low. Thanks for the screenshot of the server, so now this makes sense, that server is actually in Germany so it is mislocated on the map. We'll correct it. If you could: Copy/paste any server IDs you get when just covering the UK that get a higher ping like that Copy/paste any servers IDs you get when covering Europe that have a lower ping like you would expect being connected to a UK server Then we can correct them all to prevent it happening. In the meantime you can block any of the higher ping servers you see and allow any of the lower ping servers you see and it will start to improve. Dane Posted May 6 Author Share Posted May 6 I will try some now but here a few more niggly things I’ve encountered, 1: when geo filtering is on UK only and Fortnite try to send me elsewhere (Frankfurt Paris) it can sometimes take up to ten minutes before I can get even into a game . 2: if I am with someone , they go to that restricted server and I am left behind in the lobby which is inconvenient for me and that person . 3: on the PlayStation party chat , ( talk to friends via PlayStation UI ) if I’m playing a different game to the person I want to talk to , the PlayStation servers are all the way in Oklahoma, which means I need to have this one with GF and sometimes it can take me to American servers which obviously I do not want. is there anything we can do about this? thank you Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 6 Administrators Share Posted May 6 Yes unfortunately due to the way they have their matchmaking setup it can take a long time to get kicked back to the lobby when it blocks a server. You may find it more efficient to disable filtering for the device but still have it added to the Geo-Filter so you can see what server it puts you on and quit to the lobby then research for a game, it may be faster. Another symptom of their matchmaking system, being the party leader should resolve it (it does in other games) but may not help here Add the chat server to your allow list and then you can keep your radius over the servers you want to play while still able to chat to them Dane 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dane Posted May 6 Author Share Posted May 6 Thank you for the response 1: I think Fortnite don’t use London servers that much , I do not know how it works but I do know energy prices are crazy in the UK so would make sense if cheaper to run at the moment in other places than London hence why a lot of people get diverted to Frankfurt or Paris not just on Fortnite . 2: you are right it does not work being party leader playing Fortnite , my only solution that is the other person needs GF also. 3: I will do just that . thank you very much i have been playing with no GF on today as it is a bit tiring ping watching and waiting to get into a game but I will definitely be playing about with GF sometime this week and will report back with what I’ve encountered hopefully not much . thank you again Netduma Fraser 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
