Netduma R3 issues with ip passthrough

Recommended Posts

Hello I made a post previously regarding my r3 having a different MAC address than listed under the router I have atnt fiber so the r3 is setup with a fixed ip via ip passthrough . Every time the r3 or my art gateway reboots it’s kicked out ip passthrough and given a regular ip address this also happens if I enable or disable ipv6. I’ve NEVER had this issue with my r1 or r2 I also have a couple of different routers I’ve used before switching to netduma and this was never an issue. Since my last post I’ve hooked up one of my older routers and I’ve been testing to see if it’ll get kicked out of ip passthrough after reboots of the router, gateway and enabling/disabling ipv6 and I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue. I also want to note that I tried changing my MAC address in the netduma software to the same one that pops up on my Att gateway before putting the device in passthrough but again once it’s in ip passthrough and either device reboots it’s kicked out.

Don't change the MAC address on the R3, leave it as is.

Set the R3 IP it gets on the ATT as static/reserved, then put it in passthrough and you won't get the issue anymore.

I’ll give it a try just to make sure I’m following correctly I set the initial ip which is usually something like 192.168.x.x as static/reserved then I put the router in passthrough where it’ll get a new address of 92.168.x.x and the problem should be resolved.

The IP the R3 gets from the ISP router as static/reserved yes - you should see this in the device list on your ISP router or you can check the WAN page on the R3 for it.

Then put that IP you've set in passthrough and you're good to go - perhaps when done reboot the R3 from the interface and wait 4 minutes so it takes properly.

Copy that. The only issue with that scenario is the atnt gateway won’t let me put in a specific ip address for the passthrough it’s based on the MAC address of the device it’ll allow me to choose dhcp fixed, dhcp dynamic or manual for the Ip address it’ll lease but that’s about it I’ve always used dhcp fixed with other devices and had no issues but I’ve  tried all 3 settings and got the same issue on the r3
