Best Settings XR500 PS5?

Recommended Posts

What are the best settings that will optimize my experience on the XR500? Currently I am using my PS5 for gaming, playing mostly Call of Duty Titles and GTA V.

Need best QOS settings, UpnP settings and whatever other settings that will provide a good gaming experience.

There are no one size fits all settings, the best settings are the ones that you find works the best for you through trial and error. Though:

  • What is the model of the modem/router the XR is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the XR? E.g XR in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode
  • Are ALL devices connected to the XR?
  • What are the speeds you pay for/receive?
  • Have you entered those speeds into the router?
  • How have you setup Congestion Control?
  • How have you setup Traffic Prioritization?
  • What game are you playing?
  • How is the PS5 connected, via ethernet or WiFi?
  • How have you setup the Geo-Filter?

The model is xr500.

Most of my devices are connected to the xr500

I pay for 2 Gb down and 400 mb upload

Yes I have entered the speeds but the xr5oo only picks up 946mbps

Congestion control is setup.

I have not setup traffic prioritization.

GTA V and Call of Duty Mordern Warfare titles as well as Black Ops 6

The PS5 is connected with an ethernet cable.

The Geo-filter is setup.

The modem model the XR is connected to not the model of the XR. By most of what does that mean, how many devices are still connected to your modem?

Congestion Control & Geo-Filter aren't just on/off features, how have you set them up specifically? You should definitely set Traffic Prioritization to prioritize the console

Just to piggyback off this post, what is the latest, most-stable firmware for the XR500? Currently on V2.3.2.134 and I have to restart mine every day or two because it keeps freezing.

The latest is the beta here: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/51611-new-xr500-beta-firmware-33535/

Thanks Fraser! How stable is it? I only ask because I'm currently in online classes, and sometimes getting knocked offline. This could be a big problem in the middle of a test. Sorry to continue high-jacking the comments.

It's been out for a long time so it's generally stable. To prevent potential disconnects, In LAN Settings, set the DHCP range to start at .50, then assign reserved IP addresses to devices between .2 & .49 so they're out of the DHCP range, apply, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes and see if that stops the disconnects.
