Intermittent Connectivity Drops on Netgear XR1000v2 – Need Help!

Recommended Posts

Me again lol. Sadly, I spoke too soon. The issue still remains, but I've noticed that with every disconnection, there is high CPU usage, before the drop it seems like. I recorded my screen and captured when the CPU usage started peaking—at that point, everything stopped working. Twitch, which I use to monitor bandwidth stability, froze, and even a simple Google search wouldn’t load. You can see in the recording that nothing was working except PingPlotter, which was still pinging Google just fine. Then, when the stream started working again, the CPU usage dropped. Btw the router is not hot also there isn't any drop when in AP mode

The CPU usage is high but not flat out so I'm surprised if that was causing it, the bandwidth isn't super high either. I know you're doing it for the video but do you have the router interface up for long periods of time?

Not really, and it logs itself out after maybe 30 minutes, I believe. I feel like I'm asking a lot here, but in your opinion, what should be enabled or disabled on the ISP router and the NG to make sure it's not just a misconfigured setting?

And yeah, the bandwidth is low because only my PC is connected to the router, and it's streaming a twitch livestream. Still, it's a big coincidence that the CPU usage spikes out of nowhere for no apparent reason just before everything stops working.

There aren't really any no-no's in that regard, they largely shouldn't impact each other much. If you have the upstream router in bridge it's essentially disabling the entire router so it wouldn't then impact the XR. Are you using Armor on the XR?

No

Sorry for the late reply, seems a few people are having issues recently, the only thing I can think of would be a cloud update but I can't see how that would have caused it. I will bring it up to the team though.

I appear to be having the exact same issue, I've just created a post and then noticed this one!

Edit - I seem to have had some luck 'downgrading' to 1.1.0.16_2.1.25, it randomly offered me this through the DumaOS when trying to mess around with settings, I've disabled auto updates for now. I can still force it to drop out if I load a tonne of web pages and Speedtest.net seems to be a problem, whatever it is though seems to spike the CPU usage and kill download/upload speed but not completely 'disconnect'. Same as you I can ping game servers and actually get really quick responses, but can't load google.

Im glad I found this because I have been losing my mind on why I websites will not load. Has there been a fix found for this?

If you're having the exact same issue as the topic then we're looking into it currently, likely resolvable via the cloud

I hope so, because I haven't been able to use the router's ability for weeks now. Anyway, keep us updated, please, and maybe ask them what caused this if it's solved—just out of curiosity.
