Ritchie1909
Hi everyone, Hope you're all good and this type of question is allowed (I know Fraser doesn't answer some in relation to this). I have a chance to buy an unopened r2 at a decent price. Currently on Call of Duty on playstation, I run a VPN through my windows computer to my console to switch region. This has always worked well until recently and changes are making the lobbies default to the UK/Europe. I'm looking to purchase the r2 for the geofiltering. I just want to ask, is geofiltering alone enough to ensure I end up in my desired location? Is there a way/do I need to use the geofiltering on top of the VPN on my console to get "enjoyable" lobbies? I have both express and PIA for what it's worth. Any help would be really appreciated! Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 12 Administrators Share Posted January 12 As no one has replied to this far I'll jump in a bit. Keep in mind that they have actively made changes to prevent people using a VPN and so it may not work very well going forward. As using a VPN adds to your ping it would be better to use the Geo-Filter only for that purpose to keep your ping to a minimum. Geofiltering does still work though? I suppose it would do no harm to vpn to Egypt but region lock to the UK then. Also, and apologies for asking a few questions, is there a step by step guide for setting this up on the PS or is it all straight forward. Thanks again! Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 12 Administrators Share Posted January 12 Geo-Filtering does still work yes - no one has mentioned anything about increased difficulty forcing servers further away from what I've seen. Other than the unnecessarily increased ping it may work but I can't guarantee it. Should be relatively straight forward but if not we're always here to help. This will help also: https://support.netduma.com/docs/dumaos-4/geo-filter/ Ritchie1909
Ritchie1909
Apologies for asking a further question too but can I plug the R2 into my current router so both are running from the one modem? Ideally I'd just have the playstation running on the netduma and nothing else! Thanks again for all the help!

Yes you can absolutely do that if you wish to, just keep in mind the QoS won't work very well so you'd just be using it for the Geo-Filter essentially. Ideal, I'm not too stressed about that as I think my connection will be grand. So long as I can geofiltering and use my vpn if needed I'll be happy! Thanks again for all your help! Look forward to this arriving now. Netduma Fraser
