zgSL8RON
Howdy, I just installed the nighthawk xr1000v2 to replace my xfinity router/modem, and combined it with a gigabit+ modem. I am getting 'terrible' speeds wirelessly now, compared to what i was. When I do speed tests, I pull up to about 300 or 350 mbps, and I was pulling, with xfinity, up to about 700mbps. Not sure why, if my settings are screwy, or what's going on. I've turned off qos, which helped, bumped it from like 60mbps to 300mbps, but besides that, haven't been able to get it to increase beyond that on any of my devices. Right now I'm the only one using any devices, so it's not like other people are reducing my bandwidth. Note: I pay for 1.2 gbps -Thanks!
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 4 Administrators Share Posted January 4 How have you set the modem to ensure all traffic flows to the XR? E.g. XR in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Are ALL devices connected to the XR? Have you set your expected speeds in the router? Disable Smart Connect for WiFi and connect to the 5GHz, what do you get then? zgSL8RON
Thanks for your response. -I'm not sure what you mean by the first question. My modem is just directly hooked up to the router. When the xr does it's own speed test (connection benchmark) it pulls down right about 1gbps. -Yeah, all devices are connected. At this time , since I haven't reconnected everything, it's just my laptop, desktop and phone. -Never had smart connect enabled. I am connected to the 5.4ghz on my laptop and desktop, phone is on the other, but running speed tests on the computers. All teh cool tools, like ad blocker etc... are off currently. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5 Administrators Share Posted January 5 Does the modem provide WiFi or is it a pure modem? Switch the mode on 5GHz to 2400Mbps and see if it provides better speeds please
