GeoFilter Not Working After New BO6 Update

Recommended Posts

As the title says, my GeoFilter is not longer working after the last COD update. When I used to force connect to a region, my ping in-game would replicate that shown on the heatmap or near it. After the update, I can no longer connect to a specific region, only servers near my actual location. I've tried resetting the router, resetting my xbox, changing the geofilters location, etc. I also used to get 'Failed to Join Host' when the game would try to force me to connect to a server out of my designated geofilter region, but that is no longer occuring either. Please help.

Same problem - the geofilter setup that worked for MW2, MW3, and up til now is no longer working. Settings haven't changed. It just stopped working and now I am placed all over the US - Jersey, Chicago, LA, Texas. Its bananas how they don't care an iota about your location when putting a lobby together. I need to get control over this back or its the end for me. I won't play a game that is so horribly manipulative - I can watch a movie if I don't want to affect the outcome of something on the screen by my actions.

This could be the effect of the update they mentioned regarding a VPN - if you're trying to force a server really far away that highly increases your ping it may not work. Where are you located and where are you trying to force?

Just double check:

  • Disable GeoLatency
  • Disable PingAssist (set it to 0,0)
  • Enable Strict Mode
  • Disable Fast Search
  • Use Simple instead of Custom radius

Then restart game or wait 10 minutes (in the lobby in the game). If that doesn't work, reboot PC/Console and it should work then. If you're on the game already don't change Geo-Filter settings and then immediately search, reboot the game and it should work.

hi guys
It happens to me too, I used to be located in the ocean, I started searching with a ping of 200 and I found games very quickly to a good ping near my location, it doesn't work anymore :(

So that's why It is hard for me to connect to nearest server? Located in my town lol. Since S1 update.

You shouldn't have an issue with close servers, they're just concerned about high pings caused by those using VPNs

I know but still, since S1 I can connect to that server, but sometimes it takes 10-15 minutes with all modes selected.

It may be that due to this time of year more people are playing and the servers are becoming fuller which in turn makes it hard to force a server if you just have the one selected

Since yesterday BO6 puts me in server in London, what is happening?

Added to deny and still connecting? WTF?

I can't determine the cause just from that picture, it could be a few things:

  • GeoLatency being enabled
  • PingAssist being enabled
  • Strict Mode being disabled
  • Fast search being enabled

Could also be changing Geo-Filter settings while you were on the game and then not rebooting the game before searching again - this will be why you denying it didn't work as the connection was still partially active when searching, the connection needs to be severed fully before it is then blocked. It's very unlikely we would have added that server to the whitelist.

I never had London in my filtering so why it's connecting me for 2 days to that server? Rebooted R3 router several times.

Could be any of the 4 bullet points I mentioned, make sure you adjust those if needed and try again

Have them set correctly for over a year.

No it doesn't really work like that.

The server appears to be a Google server so I'm not sure if it's actually the game server or not.

Try this:

  1. Quit the application/game/client completely
  2. Remove device from the Geo-Filter
  3. Give PC PlayStation Device Type in the Device Manager
  4. Resync from the Geo-Filter Map menu
  5. Re-add the device to the Geo-Filter
  6. Set up the Geo-Filter how you like
  7. Wait 2 minutes
  8. Boot up application/game/client

Then see if it adheres more to your radius.
