4.402 ps5 can’t connect or has to recreate connection

Iv been struggling with devices not connecting to internet, mainly ps5 after a power cycle or fresh boot. I can sometimes go to network settings on the console and recreate but today noticed my laptop showed connected but no internet.

Had lots of trouble since last fw update and this too is really starting to render the r3 not fit for purpose. It’s a constant battle and all I want to do is play cod with decent connection when the chance arises.

It may take around 30 seconds if you leave it to get internet - does that happen?

It never gets internet connection at all, then when I disconnect and reconnect or restart it doesn’t complete the connection. Over 30 mins if I try a dozen or so times it may work.

Apologies for the multiple posts but this is what I usually get after a restart or power on of ps5

the error shows as dns not set

Are you leaving the devices in an instant on/standby mode? If so, shut them down fully and see if the problem persists the next time. Are you using manual network settings on the console itself? Have you made any specific settings changes towards these devices on the router?

Currently after the reset I can’t do anything with them to get to connect at all.

no they fully power down I have the rest modes disabled. No manual settings just the beta fw as having similiar issues prior.
I just did a factory reset due to existing issues and changed nothing apart from the initial setup.
I can try manual setup on ps5 if it’s more reliable

Nothing really in the logs unfortunately - are they both connected via ethernet? Do the ports on the LAN page show them as connected? If you connect via WiFi instead do they work? If you change the ethernet cables/change the ports used do they work?

Yes both via Ethernet but same result and same on pc, switched cables around for different ones then even went back to bt home hub which worked perfectly. WiFi doesn’t connect either, same issue.

That's very strange - are you positive they're using automatic network settings, no manual changes on the devices themselves? I think if you split the WiFi bands and connect directly to 2.4 or 5GHz that may work. Set the DNS on the devices manually. Also they say connected but not to the internet so the router must be able to see them, give them a reserved IP address on the router then reboot the devices and see if they can connect please.

Ok, thanks for your help. 100% nothing manual set, the router sees them and gives them an ip but as the odd error in logs show it’s like DNS isn’t working. Then if I start to change any settings it often disconnects ppoe connection.

will do what you suggested on Saturday lunch time and let you know.

this isn’t just me I feel after reading forums, multiple posts of no internet or disconnects, random restarts since this current beta fw and previous :(.

not trying to be that guy but when I connect the consoles to my Virgin business connection with their hub 5 or use the Bt home hub on the same line I use duma on everything works perfectly. I only get issues using the r3,
But I really like the features duma offers but currently cannot play due to plague of issues.

While connected to the router via a wired Windows PC, open command prompt, type ipconfig press enter and then post a screenshot of the results here please.

Holding the reset button in the back of the router for 30 seconds, then wait 4 minutes before accessing the interface
