BANDWIDTH SHARING ISSUES WHILE OTHER DOWNLOAD + UPLOAD IN MY HOUSE!

Recommended Posts

As the tittle read. When I'm gaming and other people download and upload in my house my ping spikes to 200+. Smart boost doesn't do ANYTHING! I tried all different setups and I'm still experiencing the same issues. Smart boost is a WASTED of Featured. It does NOT work as intended. I miss the R1 features. It was perfect the way it was. I don't know why it wasn't brought back on the R3!

SmartBOOST on it's own wouldn't inherently fix that issue, more so would be Congestion Control, how do you have that set? What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode. Are ALL devices connected to the R3?

Congestion control 70% for both. I have fiber we all connected to the R3. I also have the modern from my isp fiber which is connected to the R3

It's a straight up modern. Meaning it has no wifi on it, just one Lan that connects to my R3. here is a picture. Also the congestion control is set to always.

I'd suggest testing with downloads while following: https://bit.ly/bufferbloat-test start with a high value e.g 95%, test, decrease 10%, test, decrease 10% etc, until you get to a value that is pretty good, then try 5% either side of that value to see if it can be improved. Important to note that Download/Upload on CC don't have to be the same value & you may have a better experience with differing values. This is more of a real world test as you're actually doing traffic you would normally do. Once you get that sweet spot you shouldn't get the issue any longer.
