Bozza
Hi all, any help would be great, first time using any setup that isn't from the service provider, I've got a R2, basically I keep losing tons of download/ upload, rebooting always cure's it but obviously that's not a fix, today when it happen, download down to 5 from 150 but upload was still fairly high 22 down from 30. most time I don't notice till i download something and realise im on about half speed, but now I'm checking fairly often and it's happening alot, I've tried a few suggestions of here, ive changed DNS, to googles 8.8.8.8, and now using 1.1.1.1 /1.0.0.1 Any help is much appreciated
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 8 Administrators Share Posted August 8 What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Have you set your expected bandwidth/speeds into the router? How have you setup QoS/Congestion Control? Can you provide a screenshot of the page please? Bozza
Hi it is a R2 not 3, I've got a open reach modem .... They gave it to me because the one I bought wouldn't work with the g fast, I've not a clue how to access the open reach modem, the engineer set that up at the time, The expected speeds are set, congested control I tried 70 to 75 ish at first as suggested, still issues so I used auto - setup and it's set it to 99- 96, no difference. Qos is mostly evenly spread, couple more towards my PC, will send ss
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 8 Administrators Share Posted August 8 Force of habit! How often is the speed slowing down and when that is happening what else is happening on the network at the time?
Bozza
Haha no worries, I'm probably resetting the router few times a month, does vary, today for example just woke up to no network on my TV, so looked into it and was 5 download, only me in the flat so no one else hogging bandwidth, my boy is here on weekends, so at most, it's tv, PS5, my two phone and PC, always have checked nothing is downloading or hogging bandwidth, re booting is the only thing that fixes, speeds sometimes drops massively during download of a game and never returns to full speed unless reset, sometimes just get back from work and it's low. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 8 Administrators Share Posted August 8 What firmware version are you on exactly? When it happens again, I know you said nothing else is really happening but have a look at the Network Monitor, is there any activity there? Bozza
Hi, it's been awhile, I finally got round to going to the beta firmware, been on it for a month or so now, still having the same issue, needing to reboot my router every couple weeks, speeds drop to unusable, what can I try next, thanks Will attach screen shots of speeds when issue happens, normal speed is around 140-down/28-up, it will slowly go down the this over week or so
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 17 Administrators Share Posted December 17 Can you check the CPU/memory usage at the start and provide a screenshot, then continue to monitor it as it drops and get successive screenshots please so we can see if there is a correlation. Bozza
I've just done some speed checks to see, and I get widely different results, did 4 test in same condition with nothing then my phone using bandwidth, speed test .net app 110/80/126/60, Surly my speed shouldn't fluctuate so much Current CPU/memory usage

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 19 Administrators Share Posted December 19 All that information is safe to post. It may be because you're using the IDs for your connection, would you be able to have your upstream modem/router handle this with the router then in its DMZ and see if that resolves it please? Bozza
I have a modem given to be by BT, not sure I can get any access to it, there totally locked down as far as I'm aware 😕

Bozza
G.fast modem model MT992, I did try many suggested addresses for it last night but no access. Now after removing the router and trying to connect with the modem directly to access it, I've not got any Internet with this setup... 🤷, everything connect and I can access the duma OS, but no Internet, the router it's self did feel fairly hot underneath, and this issue has been getting worse over the last 6 months, maybe it's faulty, I will give it another try over the weekend but had to go with the sky router supplied just to have Internet 😞
