Bozza
Hi all, any help would be great, first time using any setup that isn't from the service provider, I've got a R2, basically I keep losing tons of download/ upload, rebooting always cure's it but obviously that's not a fix, today when it happen, download down to 5 from 150 but upload was still fairly high 22 down from 30. most time I don't notice till i download something and realise im on about half speed, but now I'm checking fairly often and it's happening alot, I've tried a few suggestions of here, ive changed DNS, to googles 8.8.8.8, and now using 1.1.1.1 /1.0.0.1 Any help is much appreciated
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 8 Administrators Share Posted August 8 What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Have you set your expected bandwidth/speeds into the router? How have you setup QoS/Congestion Control? Can you provide a screenshot of the page please? Bozza
Hi it is a R2 not 3, I've got a open reach modem .... They gave it to me because the one I bought wouldn't work with the g fast, I've not a clue how to access the open reach modem, the engineer set that up at the time, The expected speeds are set, congested control I tried 70 to 75 ish at first as suggested, still issues so I used auto - setup and it's set it to 99- 96, no difference. Qos is mostly evenly spread, couple more towards my PC, will send ss
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 8 Administrators Share Posted August 8 Force of habit! How often is the speed slowing down and when that is happening what else is happening on the network at the time?
Bozza
Haha no worries, I'm probably resetting the router few times a month, does vary, today for example just woke up to no network on my TV, so looked into it and was 5 download, only me in the flat so no one else hogging bandwidth, my boy is here on weekends, so at most, it's tv, PS5, my two phone and PC, always have checked nothing is downloading or hogging bandwidth, re booting is the only thing that fixes, speeds sometimes drops massively during download of a game and never returns to full speed unless reset, sometimes just get back from work and it's low. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 8 Administrators Share Posted August 8 What firmware version are you on exactly? When it happens again, I know you said nothing else is really happening but have a look at the Network Monitor, is there any activity there?
