Mach3r
I bought this router about 2 months ago to fix buffer bloat and it has seemingly little to no affect on it. I tweak the congestion everyday to try and find the sweet spot and still end up with atrocious scores while games feel awful. Am I just not aware of some router settings or something? I thought this thing would at least put a dent in it.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 1 Administrators Share Posted August 1 What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode. Are ALL devices connected to the R3?
Proud R3 Owner
Almost looks like you have speed test bypass enabled with those speeds. If you want to test cc you need to disable that and use always on instead of auto.

I set up in smartboost gaming as my top priority and then video/streaming, social media. All my devices are connected to the R3. I plead ignorance with the mode/bridge mode. I don’t know what that is
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 1 Administrators Share Posted August 1 That's fine, can you provide a screenshot of the Congestion Control section please?
Alias 1aB
If you are using a Surfboard 8200, no need to put in bridge mode because it does not have one. As someone else said above, set your congestion control to always ON and manually set your sliders to 70% for both download and upload to start off with. Do not enable speed test bypass because you want to actually see what speeds you are getting when congestion control is working properly. If your speeds are at around 70% of your max internet speed, that will be a good sign when you run the buffer bloat test.
