IzNOGoudz
honestly, i want this router to work correctly. i went from my ISP modem/router, to a sperate modem and this router. costing me more and more money and time. now i cant get this router to preform like the other modem/router and i cant even get it to run my games as well as ethernet to modem. what is the deal? is this a scam? the router runs but doesn't work right. maybe for console its a good router but to manage a PC network it completely SUCKS. sorry to say, i was excited to try to out. i put tens of hours into making it better, still no luck. please make this right some how. thanks bcoe30
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 18 Administrators Share Posted July 18 Could you explain the issues you're having exactly? Then I can best advise
IzNOGoudz
where to start. there are many issues with the software at times. i have some videos of the geofence not working properly(discord i can send), it needs to be reboot/ factory reset more then i can use it (router not geofence). the router it self i cant give you picture examples. but the "feel" of my game from various tests show it is less superior. besides the point of the geo fence and HVPN. i would just like to have a smooth game play like before with my ISP modem/router. to achieve this i have to plug my PC ethernet into the modem Directly. note this means my ISP is not the issue and all the issue stem from this R3 router. The router doesn't perform well with another pc gaming too. i set up QOS correctly. I've tried almost all the forum suggestions. turning off too. with and without congestion controls. to be clear, you guys do a great job answering the forums but i don't see up to date. (FW +DUMOS4) video or tutorials on how to set this up correctly. there are some older videos and some info on the forums but nothing that sets this router up WELL. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 18 Administrators Share Posted July 18 You can put the videos here or explain the issue, likely settings can be changed to resolve that. Why do you need to reboot/reset before you use it? We can't diagnose based off feel so what is your ping on the Geo-Filter/in game? Does it spike? How have you setup Congestion Control & SmartBOOST specifically?
IzNOGoudz
3 hours ago, Netduma Fraser said: You can put the videos here or explain the issue, likely settings can be changed to resolve that. ---ok Why do you need to reboot/reset before you use it? --- geo/filter doesnt active server even when inside simple circle and ported or UPNP correctly We can't diagnose based off feel so what is your ping on the Geo-Filter/in game? Does it spike? ---- well feel as in the performance, or your software is impeding with the game. on a modem ethernet connection or my old setup. the instant killed was better. might be jitter/ what ever your software does. the "feel is when using your router i suck. then i unplug it and im a god again? that tells me its your router. let me know the setting then... How have you setup Congestion Control & SmartBOOST specifically? i set it up many ways stated on the old tutorials and on the forum. 70/70. 100/50. with reserve. ive tried the entry setup pin optimize it automizes it. how about you tell me the correct setup for my situation? if you need my equipment let me know. this shouldn't be rocket science here. maybe its just the hardware is slower then the other. meaning it was a scam to market it like so. IzNOGoudz
even though this happens. i would be okay. the issue I'm not okay with is that my ISP modem/router was better in some way i cant get real examples of. because i don't have those logs. the game doesn't play correct or like ethernet to modem or old router. what would cause this? tell me the settings for best set up. ill try it again. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 18 Administrators Share Posted July 18 What is the game you're playing specifically? When it's doing what is happening in the video, presumably you're searching for a match then and it never gets you a game? I can't provide settings advice for feel based performance, I need concrete stats that may explain why it feels that way for example, what is your ping on the Geo-Filter or in game? When you notice it not performing well has the ping increased a lot suddenly or rapidly going up and down etc? What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Congestion Control is that Always or Auto? What about your SmartBOOST priorities? We don't make any hardware comparisons to ISP routers simply because there are 1000's of them and impossible to know what people may have. The hardware isn't what makes the difference (though it's perfectly capable), it's the software.
IzNOGoudz
COD: Warzone ping is normal. 17 on NYC server. 40 on Chicago. if steady ping is on added a few MS. i cant watch the flow of the ping stability because im tabbed out (one monitor). in this case the game shows servers in my location but will not connect. though last game was 20 minutes ago and connected prior. its glitched and rest fixes this but is annoying. MAIN issue: game plays a lot smoother and preforms better (myself) (preforms better on old hardware or no router). (cause is R3 hindering performance) a question: how would you set up the r3 from factory reset? my ISP is Xfinity gigabit plus around 1gb down 35-80mbps up. prior i had xfinity all in one (in DMZ/bridge). read that it would be better for separate modem and r3. i now have a netgear cm2000 hooked up to the R3. no DMZ. ive tried the auto setup cong. control. ive tried 70/70 ive tried manually. tried it all.... ( i can achieve a A to A+ on bufferbloat)( always on and the other thing off. for bufferbloat ) ive tried smartboost set up with reserved port 1-65536 tcp/udp. ive tried OFF. too ive read true all the posts and tried them all. ........ setting and settings and resetting to factory with no luck. if i want a good game of COD i just unhookthe netduma and bam no fast death and i kill 20 + (want to note last FW was more stable but had issues too)

IzNOGoudz
now what you suggest? reset ? ive been resetting more than playing .... help plz
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 19 Administrators Share Posted July 19 The ping is very good to be fair, have you got a smart phone? If so you can monitor the ping using the mobile app to see if you get any fluctuations/spikes. After a reset there are just a few things I would do: Ensure correct speeds are set Adjust Congestion Control (seems like you have good values currently but we can dive deeper into this if needed) Set priorities on SmartBOOST - remove the reservations, they're not needed. Ensure Gaming is set as an activity but also add the device specifically. Check Ping Heatmap for the closest/lowest ping servers to me Setup Geo-Filter for a simple radius of 1000km around my location or cover the servers identified as the best from Heatmap / Geo-Latency off / Strict Mode on / Ping Assist 0 / Steady Ping try with and without Check NAT status on the game - if necessary port forward for a PC or DMZ for a console The server in Ireland is an authentication server required for online play and is therefore automatically allowed by us - it will not impact your game ping. IzNOGoudz
I'll give this a shot. thanks. one more thing, let me ask how you would set priorities? for gaming? just game and device? also if there was another pc gaming on this line would this alter the setup? (most of the time only one PC gaming, but issues happen with two PCs gaming different games or activities) (first pc will game second will game or watch videos) (second pc is off 75% of the time) (second pc is separate user)
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 20 Administrators Share Posted July 20 So there are a couple of ways you can do it really, you can use the generic Gaming activity which will prioritize any game on any device that it detects is playing. If you want both devices to be prioritized when they play then this is the best option. Otherwise, you can select the specific game so it will only prioritize when that game is being played. Then adding the device will complement the activity priority, if you're not concerned with prioritizing the other device too much then just add the main PC here. IzNOGoudz
one last thing. tell me about ping optimizer? should I run this? or go with my own numbers based off waveform buffer? if so tell me the steps I should take! please and thank you. (also the simple vs expert aka ADVANCED settings).
IzNOGoudz
is it best practice to run the app or Brower open during gaming or doesn't matter?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 21 Administrators Share Posted July 21 So Ping Optimizer essentially runs tests to identify the best percentages for Congestion Control - Simple will just test the download and make changes, Expert will test both download & upload and make changes to both. Personally instead of either of those options, I'd follow this guide: https://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000074717-how-to-test-your-internet-ping while downloading/streaming on your network then start with a high value for Congestion Control (set to Always), say 95% then check, decrease by 10%, check, decrease by 10% etc, until you get to a value that is pretty good and then try 5% either side of that value to see if it can be improved. It's important to note that Download & Upload on Congestion Control don't have to be the same value and that you may have a better experience with differing values. In my opinion this is the best way to do it as it's a real world test using traffic you would normally do and see how Congestion Control manages that real traffic. You don't need the app or browser open for the interface for it to function but you can have it open if you want to monitor the Geo-Filter for example.
