PS5 says offline/unknown every time I turn it on since getting the R3

Whenever I turn on my PS5 it says it is offline or says online status unknown. I have to go to the settings and run a connection test to get it to connect every time I turn it on. This did not happen with my older router which was just a $80 Linksys one. This is problematic for the time wasted to connect and it also wont download updates to software or games while in rest mode with this. Does anyone know what may be causing this?

I have already:

  • Reset the router
  • Turned off the adblocker on the PS5
  • Reset the PS5
  • Re-setup the online internet connection on the PS5.

What firmware version are you on currently? It can take up to 30 seconds to reconnect after being off (we're looking into this), if you want does it come back online? How are you connected exactly to the router?

  1. What firmware version are you on currently?
    1. DumaOS Version: 4.0.219
    2. App Version: v4.0.71 (I just did a firmware update recently, I don't think this was happening before it)
  2. It can take up to 30 seconds to reconnect after being off
    1. I will wait next time to see if it comes back online on its own. I haven't noticed it coming back on as of yet, but i may be moving to the settings too quickly.
  3.  How are you connected exactly to the router?
    1. I am wired to the router.

Thanks!

So i shut down the console completely and left for a few days and when i returned i turned it back on to play. It says offline, after maybe 15 seconds it loaded everything as if i was online (similar to how you said) - however i would go over to my friends list and it said i had no friends. Then i went to my profile and it said online status is "unknown". I had to run a connection test to get it to connect. This was from a full shutdown state.

Okay that's more as expected, did you have the Geo-Filter enabled at the time? Wondering if that's the cause for the friends list not showing as that would be something we can then fix with a cloud update easily.

Everytime you have the geo filter enabled after 1 game ,everyone on call of duty warzone is offline !

Specifically those playing that game appear offline? That's very odd, do you notice anything blocked on the map when this happens?

Try Changing your DNS on your ps5

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

1.1.1.1

1.0.0.1

try these :)

Is there any fix to this? It is still doing it on PS5 and my main PC that are both on wired connection. It is actually very inconvenient because it disconnects from the internet throwing me out of work when i work from home.

The device showing online/offline on the Device Manager wouldn't impact the connection at all, it's purely a visual representation of what it is seeing, it doesn't force any type of state. We've just released a new Early Access firmware if you could upgrade to that and see if it makes it more consistent for you: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/57983-new-r3-firmware-dumaos-40540

Nothing to do with it showing in device manager. Sorry i wasnt clear. When i first boot up my PC from Sleep or PS5 it doesnt get instant internet connection and takes like 15 seconds to connect.

I'm not following, if you've just booted your device and there is a 15 second delay, how is it disconnecting you when working from home etc?

I'm saying i step away for some period of time (say an hour). Come back and it kicks me out of everything because it disconnected me from the internet while asleep on wired devices. Similar on PS5 - I boot it up and it says no internet connection for 10-15 seconds and then reconnects. Often times it wont download update files in rest mode since it loses internet.

Understood thanks, I assume this isn't an issue if you don't have the devices in a sleep mode, you just then get the initial delay when turning them on instead. Have you tried the new version to see if it still occurs?

will test and report back. Is it still best practice to factory reset the router after the upload? Looks like that was a thing for the R2. Thanks!

i uploaded the new firmware and it cant load minimum requirements. Did do a hard reset but still wont load. Was going to do a factory reset, but cannot load the interface. Does instantly connect after a full reboot, and ill test the rest mode connectivity issues once i get a factory reset done.
