Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 30 Administrators Share Posted June 30 Double NAT only occurs when you have two routers in play and one isn't passing through all the traffic to the other so it will be something to do with the static IP/DMZ not being valid anymore for some reason, check all that in case any of it has changed RFGrinch

RFGrinch
Not really as have multiple extenders/nodes attatched to it. Had this issue before switching from sky to connect fibre and adding on nodes also so know it isnt that. I can reset everything and get it all back to open. It just doesnt last long at all. So guessing for some reason the static isnt actually setting or something along those lines. Do really enjoy the r3 when working as should. Its just this that annoys me. Literally turned it off when happened again and havent switched it on since. Only had it so many months lol. Of comes to it i guess i would have to pay extra to get connect fibre to give me my own static

Of comes to it i guess i would have to pay extra to get connect fibre to give me my own static So from what I can remember from reading this thread is that you are using your isp router and you have connected a R3 through Ethernet and now you have a temperamental NAT Type. I would say if possible connect your routers the other way around use the R3 as a main and connect the other through Ethernet and still connect your nodes to the router it’s currently connect to. If that’s not possible then you should go into your main router and change your dhcp range shorten it to reserve a static ip address for the default gateway of the R3 eg( ip range 192.168.77.1 - 192.168.77.250) login to the R3 assign a ip address that is out of the range of what you put in your main router eg (192.168.77.251) disable the dhcp on the R3 and assign your Xbox a ip address with your main router and also put that same ip address of your Xbox into the DMZ of your main router and if that don’t work try both routers. I know this was a bit long winded but I hope you was able to keep up and understood what I was trying to explain please try any of these method’s and let me know got you get on and let me know if you need further help. RFGrinch
I did reserve a static ip address before on the linksys as fraser told me to do that already. All that worked. Just went back to double nat within a week. Really thought we had got it. Dont understand why its so much bother to setup and get cracking. Only wanted it for better gaming, possibly lag free. Not headaches.

RFGrinch
I will have to try everything tomorrow. I will boot everything up and check all settings as fraser mentioned. After that i will post and go from there. May just get my own static ordered and should fix the issue forever. No more back and forth. Would rather not spend even more money each month on it. But we shall see Monsta
Zli
I did a factory reset of the modem from my ISP and since then I have Nat type 3 and strict in ps5. Does it have any effect on the online game, lag or something similar? The modem from my ISP is in bridge mode. I noticed that my public ip address has only changed in R3. Does anyone have a solution or know what to do next to return to Nat 2 and be open as before?

The R3 would get the public IP address from your ISP - it's impossible for you to have two different ones.
RFGrinch
Not tried it yet. Whys one guy putting it in bridge mode and more reserving ip for r3 and running dmz. i will for sure get round to having a look in a bit. Weathers been ok so got plenty done outdoors. Obviously I shouldn't have done a hard reset with the ISP modem, but now it is as it is.If it doesn't affect the game and the lag, it doesn't matter to me what it says.??Does that make the game slower, lag, etc?? RFGrinch
Strict and whatnot affect your lobbies. Say on cod that i play. Alot of peeps are trying to get strict lobbies and using vpn to try get into bot lobbies lol. But it does affect your lobbies for sure. When strict i cant jump in with my mate thats open. I have double nat strict. Which i will sort out again later. But all i know is what bothers my game play with cod.

Tnx Ah they did it manually for you - it shouldn't make the game lag no, it will only really affect who you're able to connect to - if you're a solo player then you really won't notice any difference. If you play with friends, as long as they're all on open they can connect to you.
