Confirming AP Mode Setup

Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased an R3 and want to try it out and find the correct settings for my network. While I do that there are a few things, mostly smart plugs, that I don't want to transfer over just yet and was hoping to use the AP mode.  I just wanted to confirm that AP mode on my XR1000 works the way I think it does.

I'd like to set it up as follows:

Current setup: Fios ONT -> XR1000 -> dumb switch -> wired devices
                                                     |-> Wifi

Proposed setup: Fios ONT -> R3 -> dumb switch -> wired devices  
                                                       |-> XR1000 -> WiFi stuff I do not want to move yet.

I would be plugging the cable from either my switch or one of the LAN ports on the R3 directly into the WAN port on the XR1000.

This way I can leave the WiFi as is for some devices and just have it behind the R3 for the time being.
