Ping and speeds are no different

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a new R3 and connected everything as per the instructions.

I play on a PS5 and I see no difference in ping and when I do a speed test on the PS5 it is significantly different from the Duma R3 test. Like 948 from Duma and 49 from the PS5.

What am I doing wrong.

Also, every device i connect to the Netduma has way lower connection than my router from my IP service.

And when I look at the DumaOS it doesn't shoe any usage on the PS5 even though I've been trying to play for over an hour.

What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode

Where are you measuring the ping? Have you changed any settings or just plugged in and completed the wizard? The console speed tests are an estimate - I suspect if you do a download it will go at the speed you expect.

Where are you testing the speeds and how?

The modem is a Calix GigaSpire BLAST.

I don’t know how to set it so all traffic flows through the R3.

I just plugged it in as per the instructions.
I’m have not changed any settings.
I measure the ping in a game (CoD) through the PS5.

I also test the speeds on the PS5 settings.

What is the specific model of it? You can check the label on the underside.

You'll need to adjust the Geo-Filter/SmartBOOST/Congestion Control to get the benefits. Here is a video that may help:

Thank you, you'll need to access it and put it in modem mode/bridge/passthrough mode or take the R3 WAN IP (found on the R3 WAN page or on the Giga device list) and put that in its DMZ

I don't know how to access that model, they should have instructions or it may be on the underside of the router then just find the options I mentioned.

Did you complete the Setup Wizard on the R3? You'll need to do that to get internet

My modem is already set for pass through.
I completed the wizard before I stated this thread.
I have poor connection to my PS5 and everything else I try to connect to says connected with no Internet.

Okay so internet was all working as expected then it suddenly stopped working? Was anything changed on either router? Reboot the giga, wait 2 minutes then reboot the R3, wait 4 minutes then see if you get internet

So I have internet now but it is week. I am directly below the router downstairs and I have no signal but I switch to my regular router and have full signal.
Also, Duma OS says my game is 12 ping but my PS says 40 ping.
Why such a difference?

The ping in the network settings is to the authentication server (the server that checks that you have a paid account etc), that ping doesn't impact your game ping at all which is what the Geo-Filter shows and which is why it is lower.

Weak in what sense? In WiFi Settings:

  • Split the bands, give 2.4/5GHz different names and apply - you'll want to connect to 5GHz specifically for speeds
  • Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that
  • Experiment with the widths to see what gives better results
  • Ensure it's in an elevated position - not on a metal surface
  • Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proximity ~3 feet if possible
  • Set the antennae to this position _ | | _
