m0ngr3ll
Hello, I’ve had my XR500 roughly 4 years now, the past few months I’ve noticed the internet will just cut out at random times, usually every other day. I’m with Sky, full fibre, I know it’s not a case of Sky going down as I’ve checked their Broadband status and it’s all fine and a restart of the router (either by the power or rebooting through the app) has everything working again. Obviously not ideal halfway through games. Any suggestions? Thank you
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 18 Administrators Share Posted March 18 In LAN Settings, set the DHCP range to start at .50, then assign reserved IP addresses to devices between .2 & .49 so they're out of the DHCP range, apply, reboot from the interface, wait 4 minutes and see if that stops the disconnects. Thanks Fraser, did as you said but unfortunately the connection dropped again yesterday and required another reboot to start working properly. I forgot to mention just in case, when this happens, all lights on the router are showing white to indicate an active connection and internet, the only way we know it’s not working is when it stops working, but a reboot always gets things back up and running

mormor659
Try to turn off QoS and see if the drops are gone? m0ngr3ll

I'll still paste it, see if it leads to anything, if it happens again I'll update with the right log this time. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 26 Administrators Share Posted March 26 It definitely seems to be the issue for the workaround I gave you so assuming you've set all the static IPs, disable DHCP entirely and see if that helps please

Just to confirm I'm not doing it wrong, disabling DHCP is just unchecking, "Use router as DHCP server" right? Attached a screen of the DHCP range as well
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 26 Administrators Share Posted March 26 That's correct yes, there are quite a few unknowns though, in Device Manager remove all offline devices and make sure the ones with names do have an IP/check them against the IPs on the devices with DHCP enabled first
