Slightly Higher Ping - Better connection?

Recommended Posts

I had a weird thing happen yesterday, I was in an MWIII pub TDM and hit detection felt really good. I was like let me check my ping because I was expecting it to be lower than normal. I checked Netduma and ping was showing around 58-68 with steady ping. Usually it's around low 20s with steady ping yet the higher ping felt better. Is there an explanation for this with lag compensation or something as I always thought lower ping was better. The server was still a near by server so I'm not sure why the ping was higher than usual. My question is, it worth setting the steady ping - target ping under expert to 60 or something. Has anyone else tried this?

Most likely lag compensation yes or the server itself was less under load and so making it more reliable. You could try setting the Steady Ping higher to get the same effect but there is no guarantee it'll work that way

Yes to me when I have a ping of 6ms in cod it feels like everyone else is ahead of me by so much.. but when my ping is higher around 30ms everything feels so fluid. Call of duty is punishing low ping players. But they have to do that because the low ping player will be destroying the lobby

I echo the same sentiments too. Like when I play local Singapore servers with 2ms ping, hitreg seems very manipulated and flaky. But when I play on HK server where it is around 30ms-40ms, I play extremely well and these are not even bot lobbies. It is proper sweats but I can still outgun them. On 2ms server, it feels like even 1 bullet can kill you and it takes an entire magazine just to kill 1 person. SBMM, EOMM is very real and low ping players are definitely penalised in the form of damage and doing damage to another enemy player. For some strange reason, even using Steady Ping on my local servers which brings my ping to 15ms-20ms feels noticeably better but it cannot compare to proper 30ms servers like Hong Kong/China servers when I play. I actually dislike playing on my local server despite the extremely low ping. So you are not the only one too.

I said this before on an older post. Steady ping is a game changer for COD… but if your playing better when your ping is higher that makes GEO filter useless. Unless you are using GEO filter to get the higher ping lobbies lol. I stopped using geo filter and only use steady ping.

Think of all the people using GEO filter for call of duty to get the lowest ping possible and it’s only making them perform worse because they are at a disadvantage.. that sucks
