Ryan R
Whenever I try and use NordVPN along with the geofilter, I am unable to see the server and connection status. I would like to use NordVPN to connect to a location closer to the COD servers. This was not a problem in the past, but has become a problem over the past week or so. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 11 Administrators Share Posted March 11 How are you using a VPN with gaming at the moment, are you playing on PC as HybridVPN isn't currently available on the R3. What has changed specifically in your setup during that time? Also that is literally what the Geo-Filter does so you're just adding ping using the VPN in that way
Ryan R
I use NordVPN to connect to their New York server. Nothing has changed in my setup. The only difference is that I updated the firmware on the netduma r3 router (.41). I tried to roll back to the previous version (.23) and the problem remains. The geofilter does not find the warzone server.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 12 Administrators Share Posted March 12 What platform are you playing on? How are you connecting to the VPN? How have you setup the Geo-Filter page?
Ryan R
I play on PC using battle.net. I use the NordVPN application along with dumaOS webpage in the background. I have a custom geofilter that basically covers the northeastern part of the US.
ChrisG82
With the best will in the world, I can't imagine that it has ever worked like this. You set up a VPN tunnel from the PC to a VPN server via NordVPN. The Netduma R3 may still be able to see the VPN connection to the VPN server. I cannot judge whether this is displayed in the geofilter (as the VPN server is not a game server). BUT as soon as the VPN connection itself is established and all data is routed through this connection, the R3 can no longer actually see which connections and data are flowing through this tunnel. That is exactly the purpose of a VPN tunnel: Nobody should be able to look in! For this to work, the R3 itself must initiate the tunnel, but this is not yet possible. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 12 Administrators Share Posted March 12 Okay so both locations are covering the same area. You are essentially creating a tunnel between your PC and the game server so the router can't really see the data properly. You definitely don't need the VPN in this scenario though.
