Chimdi
Hello, I have an ASUS - RT-AX82U AX5400 router and I just purchased a Netduma R3 router. I would like to use my Asus router for everything and use my R3 for only gaming. I was wondering if anyone can help me out with setup instructions. Thank you. goblin
goblin
Hello All, I was just about to post the exact subject! I saw this video online and want to do the same thing. I went ahead and ordered the NetDuma R3. It will be here today. Now I do not have a UDM right now but I don't see why this couldn't work with another router in combination with the R3. I have a TP-Link Archer AX11000 which I have found doesn't have an SQM function. The TP-Link gets an "A" rating for bufferbloat so gaming isn't its best application but is great for everything else. I do have quite a bit of aggravation in MW3....who doesn't, right! There may be settings that could improve gaming but I'm going to try the R3 instead. I would really appreciate any recommendations on this subject also. Thank you in advance.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 22 Administrators Share Posted February 22 You can do this, just connect the R3 to the Asus - if you want to prevent a double NAT/ensure you get an Open NAT then you'll need to put the R3 WAN IP in the DMZ on the Asus and then that's it! goblin

Thanks again Fraser. I will give that a try. Just wondering what settings my AX11000 should handle versus what the R3 will be doing. For example: turning off QOS on the main router because R3 will be doing that for me, etc. I don't want to have wrong settings on either router that will detract from what I'm expecting out of the R3. I'm not sure if iPv6 needs to be off on one or the other. iPv6, Allow ping, Portscan and Syn Flood are 3 things turned off in the video I reference above. I'm no networking genius. Just trying to learn but it is MW3 that put me on this path!
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 26 Administrators Share Posted February 26 Without the R3 handling all devices it won't be able to use QoS effectively so really the way you're going to use it the main thing you'll be using on the R3 is the Geo-Filter so other than the DMZ I mentioned before you don't need to change anything else

But I keep getting kicked from call of duty. I can’t even finish one game.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 26 Administrators Share Posted February 26 Do you see anything on the map being blocked when that happens at all? How do you have the Geo-Filter setup?

How do you have the Geo-Filter setup? I do not see anything. I set it to 1500miles and ping assist to 70ms. I normally get around 17 to 50ms with my old router. The error I receive is Networking is offline [Reason: HUENEME - CONCORDI.
