Zac
Just updated to version v4.0.40 I have been fortunate with this update. It installed flawlessly, fixed CPU errors, reduced ping on multiple fronts and my jitter, and download speeds and bufferbloat all seem to be performing on par if not better then my XR1000 so hat off to the team managing to address so many bugs in such a short time period well done. I can also report that my Wifi speeds have gone from 350 mb average to around 550mb still not perfect but I'll definitely take that as a win for now considering there was no mention of anything addressing this it could simply just be the CPU performing better. Anyway I know there have been others posting various things regarding the Adblock feature. I just wanted to report a bug so hopefully when the dev team gets around to looking at it might be something they can look into. Since I got the router my AppleTV has been buffering, pausing, or straight just stops playing content or gets disconnected. I didn't think this was a router issue and troubleshooted everything else to no avail. However I noticed quite a few things being blocked on my AppleTV through the adblock. I just turned this feature off and have enjoyed watching things on it for 5+ hours no issues. This is not a primary issue as it's simply fixed by just disabling adblock on that device but I still wanted to report it while the feature is being developed/ improved. @Netduma Fraser oldman66
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 28 Administrators Share Posted January 28 Great to hear you've had a good experience on this update! Thanks for the report, it is very likely that the ads served on Apple TV are using the same domain for serving the actual content, it's for this same reason that we advise people not to use Adblocker for YouTube for example. It's a hard one to solve from the network side but if we can solve it we will. Zac

I know it's kind of an experimental feature but having the ability to toggle which devices it runs on/ off is great and solved my issue. I did have another question regarding how it works though as I couldn't find the specific information. I'll keep looking but. Most people run adblockers on their devices/ browsers. So for example I know brave has an adblock built in at it's core level to stop ads from loading in the first place. Does this work in a similar way except just at the router/ network level meaning my browser would no longer block the ad? I assume that's how it would function which is cool. Additionally, I use Ublock which obviously has a list of blocked things and the way it works. Does Netduma create it's own or are you utilising an existing adblock service for this feature? Yes essentially it's like a browser Adblocker at the network level. However, as the browser Adblocker I assume can block elements that's why it's easier to block video ads where its harder to do so at the network level. We do have some default lists, I'm not too sure how they were created but we're not using any other service.
Alias 1aB
Just passing on some feedback.... I had to disable Adblocker on my LG CX TV because it would not load Apple TV+. I didn't have any issues with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, or YouTube with Adblocker on though. I have not tried to turn it back on since.
