Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 24, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 24, 2023 What is the model of your modem/router the R3 is connected to? Do you know if you need PPPoE or VLAN to get a connection?
Luthor_Hunt
thanks for your reply. My router model is Hitron coda 45 v2. And about PPPoE / VLAN requirement i dont know for sure, where can i check it?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 27, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2023 What were you using before to connect to that modem? Check that routers internet settings and then put them into the R3 or connect the R3 to that instead
Luthor_Hunt
it does work by connecting Netduma R3 to my modem TP-link then connect to my ISP Hitron coda 45 v2. But another question pops up, will this increase my ping or gaming latency?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 2 Administrators Share Posted January 2 No it shouldn't, copy the WAN IP from the R3 Settings > WAN then input that in the TP DMZ and you're good to go
Luthor_Hunt
thankyou so much Fraser for your guidance until this far, it works well by connecting my Netduma R3 to TP-link (a modem provided by ISP) then to ISP. I realized my ISP has 2 ethernet slots. I wonder if it is possible to connect directly Netduma R3 to it. is there a way to make it compatible? i've tried to connect directly but always no connection. if theres a way, then i dont need my TP-link anymore
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 6 Administrators Share Posted January 6 For a pure modem you can only have one router/device connected to it - basically a pure modem doesn't have the capability to determine where traffic will go, that's why a router is used
