Adblocker with Apple devices

Recommended Posts

XR1000 Firmware = Latest

Hi I setup adblocker from https://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000133055-using-adblocker-on-xr1000

All works well apart from Apple devices, if I try and access sites like superdry, Marks and Spencer etc they don't load. I have to disable the adblocker for those devices (iPhone and ipad both ios 16.5) then they work perfectly. I have tried disabling private address setting but same outcome.

These sites work perfectly on Windows and android tablets and phones.

Once you've disabled the Private Addresses you may need to reboot the devices. If that doesn't work then I can only think that it must be the specific apple domains on the list causing it. Have a look at the list specifically, https://netduma.com/adblocker-lists/default-list.txt use the command function on the browser, Ctrl + F and put in Apple.com and add each domain into the whitelist on Adblocker and see if that resolves it.

Hi Fraser,

Thanks for the suggestions I have tried both and still same issue. Disabling adblocker is currently the only fix.

Is there a log I can tail live to see what is going on? Can I ssh into the router or something and look at the logs in /var

Do it without the wildcard on block and allow please and see if it allows it then. Here are all the apple.com URLs from the file so you can just paste them in easily:

Hi Fraser thanks for the reply. I had time to look at this today and below is how I think it is resolved (currently working like pc and android devices).

- Go into the network settings for each wifi or ethernet connection and disable Limit IP Adress Tracking. I also disabled in safari advanced settings.

- Added a blacklist for mask.icloud.com mask-h2.icloud.com (This blocks icloud relay even though this isn't enabled on our apple devices).

Hope this helps others.
