device manager, device type

hi, could someone tell me what difference it makes when selecting device type in device manager, i am on pc and had issues in the past with forcing lobbies , i was advised to select playstation even though my device is a pc. just wanted to know why this makes a difference. thanks

Specifically that suggestion is so that you can add the PC to the Geo-Filter with the Games Console service/the manual option as it is a wider filter than selecting a specific game and more likely to work if the service you've picked is out of date for example
